96roadmaster
Mr. Riviera, I'm just curious about your car's past. I remember seeing the exact same green color with black interior on a '65 Riviera about 10 years ago at a local auction here in Los Angeles. I think it was a Rick Cole auction, but it may have been the Spectrum auction though. It was a super pristine car. I believe it was also on Ebay a couple years back if I remember correctly. Also, whar brand are the wide whitewall tires that you have on them? That just might be my next set of tires. Mine's currently in a restoration shop in the process of getting beautiful. Here she was not too long ago when I pulled her out of storage... Updates coming soon!

Guest 63riviera
All very nice Rivieras here.here's an overlooked model from the '74-'76 period, which most people don't appreciate:1976 Riviera with the optional "Congressional Cream" paint and buckskin leather interior and vinyl top. This car is immaculate. I've seen very few in this condition. The interior is perfect. Every part is original or NOS replacement (except for my ACCEL HEI, coil, ign module, wires):
Guest 63riviera
My '63 I wanted to look like the Silver Arrow I. KIt originally was painted "Silver Cloud", but I had it stripped and repainted mercedes astral silver with an expensive german paint (Spies Hecker):
Guest 63riviera
Not as nice as my other two Rivieras because it was may latest acquisition. But it is very fun to drive.Cosmetically it needs work. But after adding an ACCEL 71105e billet distributor, Jacob's Ultra Coil, ACCEL #35367 ign module, Accel 300+ low resistance plug wires, R45TSX plugs gapped at 0.065", a TA water pump, all new Gates belts and hoses, a Delco 12-SI 94-amp alternator, Optima battery with 2/0 gauge cables, POWERMASTER 9202 starter, flex-fan, a new ignition switch, a stainless-steel, mandrel-bent 2 1/2" dual exhaust, it is very reliable and runs extremely well--even better than a Lexus LS400. My mpg went from 8.9 to 15.1 with the ignition upgrades and opening the spark plug gap. It idles so smoothly and has a very crisp throttle response. Electronic ignition is one of the best upgrades I've made that has had dramatic results.
Guest 63riviera
But I must say there are some exceptionally beautiful cars shown here--much better than mine.I like almost all Rivieras, though I'm partial to '63-'65's, and the ones presented here are stunning.yet, I do appreciate the other models, especially the Boattail, which has grown on me.I still wish more people would look at the '74-'76 models. When i was a small kid, I went in a Buick showroom with my Dad, who bought a '76 Electra Limited that year. I sat in a black '76 Riviera S/R, and thought, "man, am I going to have one of these someday!!" A salesman kicked me out of the car, which made me want that model even more

Guest 63riviera

Quote:

My '73... Regal Black/WhiteMy '65... Champagne Mist/SaddleShow me yours!

I don't want to show favoritism, because all the Riv's shown here are gorgeous. But the '65 in Champagne with the wire spinners looks especially sharp. Besides its great shape, I think the bright metallic colors and wires complement the '63-'65's design. But then I've seen some black first generation Riv's that look incredibly cool, too. At the Petersen museum in LA, Steve Miller (the rock 'n roll artist) has his black '65 in there with a matching black guitar. For my silver '63, I just bought some Riviera wire spinners, which I think will look great with the paint.Coincidentally, BadgerRivFan, I have a '73 also to go with my first generation. Of course, yours both look much nicer. Actually I kind of like the shape my '73 is in. Mechanically it's in excellent condition. But cosmetically, it's in a state in which I wouldn't care about scratching the paint or making the interior dirty; so it's a car I enjoy driving regularly--something I think many of us refrain from doing for good reason. But one thing I've learned with the passing of both my parents last year: Life is too short, too ephemeral to waste time. Sometimes, saving something for the "right time" robs you of the opportunity to enjoy it. Yeah, I'm guilty of that--I garage the '63 and '76 during the winter (or longer) because I have this fear of something happening to them or for insurance reason. Well, when my '63 was garaged in my locked garage, it was broken into. There is no safety zone. And you never know when your time is up. You work so hard all your life, like my parents did, and never have time to reap the rewards of a lifetime of hard work. So, even though I have a winter transpiration car, a Lexus I hate, I'd rather drive something I like.If you have a car you like, drive it as much as you can. You can't take it with you. toomuchvinyl
OK, I think I may finally have figurred out how to do this(post a picture).... Here's my 64 which I purchased from the third owner in October of 2006. It has 73,000 miles on it and still has it's original 63 Washington State license plates. The second owner who had the car from 1968 until 2006 was an early member of ROA. A few copies of the Riview from the mid 80's were in the trunk along with the manuals, protect-o-plate, various brochures, bill of sale, etc.. The car appears to be an early production 64 as it has the 63 wire wheel covers and leather upholstery which was not offered in 64. Options include wood steering wheel, tilt, power driver's seat, power windows and vent windows, AM/FM radio, cruise control, rear defroster and 4-note horn. I'd like to refresh the front-end components and have the carb rebuilt and by this time the original paint is getting kind of thin but I sure like it and plan to keep it for a long time to come. Evidently not.....
