Hershey show car field

I went to Hershey on Thursday and it was great! The weather was perfect and everyone that I talked to was having a great time. I want to go back Saturday and see the show cars, but I am wondering if it is on pavement? I can't imagine what it would be like with all the rain, and the MUD!

The wind today certainly helped to dry things up. Spent the day at Hershey, was chilly, BUT, as is the norm every year, the trailers are all over Hershey proper, "the show will go on", the show field was a golf course, so, great drainage.

The show field was actually really nice. I was afraid of much worse. The only thing that was forgoten was the signs on Hershey park drive. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> We and quite a few others thought we had to go down the road by the golf course not the one by the giant center. It was funny seeing a bunch of cars going one way and abunch going the other way with non of us sure which way to go. Other then the troubles getting there and it being cold on friday it was a great show as always.

The grass and trees made a great setting for the show cars. No mud there, either!

Though the show field's location was a bit isolated from the food and the flea market, I avoided any inconvenience by taking my 1961 Imperial to the show and staying on the show field the rest of the day to see all the cars. I was having such a great time that I forgot to eat lunch!

LOVED the car show field--tons of atmosphere, nice grass, tall trees, etc., what could be better?!

DIDN'T APPRECIATE the way cars were funneled out of there at the end of the show, into "nowheresville," with no indication of how to get back to the main Hersheypark area. We ended up driving around on several roads (with plenty of clutch action on uphills with stop & go traffic), and eventually, "feeling" our way back to Hershey Fall Meet central. No signs, no people giving advice--mostly dumb luck. THANKFULLY only mishap was running out of gas on the post-show "tour of Hershey."

A few more port-a-potties and a few food vendors on the show field would have been better. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Having to wait in line so long for a port-a-potty and having to take a nice LONG HIKE for food/drink gave many a show car owner the impression of poor planning on someone's part.

Glad to see I was not the only one who <span style="font-weight: bold">DID NOT APPRECIATE</span> this end to the show day. Not the best feeling in the world getting lost in a city one is not familiar with. This situation leaves a VERY BAD taste in the mouth of show car owners that got lost. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

If this route was a last minute change made by HERCO Security or Township Police I trust Hershey Region Staff and AACA Officers will voice their displeasure LOUD AND CLEAR about this on-the-fly change. (Show cars had been turning left exiting the show field for almost an hour before the change was made.) The heck with being politically correct, someone deserves an old fashioned tongue lashing.

If the routing of show cars was planned or known by the show organizers and No maps, NO signs or No communication (ie flyer in registration packet) was made to show car owners then the show organizers need to be taken out behind the wood shed and taught a lesson in communication. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I agree it was a great spot for the show and it was nice judging on the grass.

As already mentioned more Porta=Johns would have been nice.

Jim, you needed to use the ones in the HPOF area, NO WAITING!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> while the judged class area ones had 15 min. lines. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I agree with the post show mandatory right turn being a pain. Luckily I found my way back without incident. Other than that, my only complaint was all the mud I got on my car (and trailer and tow vehicle) in the trailer parking area. I parked in a wonderful dry field on Thursday and then Friday it was turned into a field of mud. On Saturday it was a wonderful slip-sliding mud pile. I spent an hour getting mud off of the tires and underneath the fenders of my Model A, but I guess I got enough off since I now have my Senior Award. So.... I am happy with the final outcome of my first visit to Hershey. I am sure I will be back.

Sorry I missed seeing you there (though I did see your Rabbit go by on Route 39 when I was walking to get my gas can!).

Forgot about the long porta-potty lines at the show field--I agree that could be added to the "lessons learned" list.

I think the Hershey Region did an outstanding job with the last minute changes because of the rain. I was there with my Buick GS in the HPOF class and I had a great time.

Agree with others that a few more toilets along with a few food vendors would have been nice.

Overall a nice place for a show however it was the 1st show ever that I couldn't sit with my car due to space constraints. I almost missed the judges as we were sitting 30' away and they were half done before I walked down to check. Eventually we moved the car to a space where we could be with it.

I saw the thing moving, with a guy standing on the running board, and I thought, "oh no, he's going to roll right into that line of cars," but, turns out he was actually driving the thing with the big tiller stick.
