Jim Skelly
The club is primarily for the 1954 Victoria (hardtop) with the transparent roof, and the 1955-1956 Crown Victoria, but owners and enthusiasts of other 1954-1956 full-size Ford models are welcome to join. There were about 35 cars there this afternoon when I went. It was humid and the temperature was in the upper 80s. There may have been more cars touring Dearborn, which is across Ford Road from the hotel. The show ends tomorrow. 1954 Victorias with the transparent plexiglass roof panel: 2
Jim Skelly
a 'plain' 1954 Victoria: note the standard inline 6; Dad bought some of this diamond pattern upholstery from the local Ford dealer in Dearborn to reupholster a loveseat, but it was two tones of blue instead of what is pictured here 3

Jim Skelly
1955 Mainline Ute from Australia: it was heavily modified with additional instrumentation and pretty much any add-on accessory you could get from Ford or the aftermarket; of course, it is right-hand drive and has a speedometer measuring kilometers 3

Jim Skelly
1955 Crown Victoria: this was for sale for $55,000 and went back in the trailer within the 30 minutes I was at the show (sweat was rolling into my eyes the entire time I was there); the owner's comment on the sign was that he needed the money ... Jim Skelly
1956 Crown Victoria: most of these cars were loaded with continental kits, large bumper guards and accessory side trim pieces 4

Jim Skelly
1956 Mercury Montclair convertible: This was probably my favorite. Unfortunately, the windows were up so I couldn't get decent interior photos. I hope you enjoyed this virtual show! 2

mercman from oz
Thanks Jim for teh great photos. Wish I was there. Seeing as the Crown Victoria Club specialises in Mid-Fifties Fords, I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me. Back in 2015, I attended a local All Ford Day and this Imported 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria 4-Door was in attendance. Ford Australia only offered Four Door Sedans. The owner of this gem converted the car to Right Hand Drive. He added extra side trim above the standard trim, and said that it was a Genuine Ford Accessory. We haven't found any Literature to substantiate his statement. The added top strip is longer than the standard issue. so someone much know about this additional Trim? In my search for answers, I have also found a Victoria and a Sunliner with this extra Trim. What can you tell me about it.
Jim Skelly
I grew up in Dearborn, which had a lot of 1956 models everywhere you went until they all rusted out by the late 1960s. I have never seen that additional side trim.
60FlatTop
I always liked those high end '56 Fords. Never did get one. Glancing at the topic, Crown Vics and Chicago immediately made me think of The Blues Brothers. Even though the movie predated Ford's Panther platform. I don't think i've ever seen one of these with the extended quarter panels like that on the continental kit. I have always been a fan of the Tri-tone paint on the Meteor Crown Victoria though.

Note the multi-piece chrome trim atop the fender. It looked natural enough that the current owner generally has to point it out.

I agree; I thought there would be more variety of models; maybe the Mercury owners tend to just attend all-Mercury shows: IMOA › International Mercury Owners Association (mercuryclub.com)

Maybe an IMOA invitation next year would bring out a few. Now, '55 Montclair Sun Valleys are another matter, I've seen maybe three in 50+ years of being aware of their existence. Jim Skelly
Steve, Yes, the Sun Valleys aren't too common. I've seen several '54 models and maybe only two '55 models.
