John_S_in_Penna
Some cars have become scarce, but few notice the fact. Here is a 1984 Buick Electra Limited 2-door, not mine, for sale by a dealer in Delran, New Jersey. It appears to be in excellent condition with a stated 63,000 miles, and best of all, his asking price is a realistic $8500. Rivieras of this vintage are readily available; Electras today are seen much more infrequently. The coupes are even scarcer. John_S_in_Penna
And here are a few pictures copied from the ad. The dealer provides 42 altogether, quite extensively. NC-car-guy
Sweet ride! If I had the funds, I'd ride this daily instead of my 57 That coffee-colored interior is great! Edited July 20, 2023 by NC-car-guy (see edit history)
John_S_in_Penna
My thoughts: Make sure this car goes into the hands of a collector, one who appreciates its scarcity, and one who will make sure it stays pristine for generations to come. It's safe to say there are 100 Rivieras of the 1980-1984 vintage for every Electra coupe 1980-1984.
SBRMD
And....it's likely shod with the sought-after code 011 15 × 7 1980's era road wheels!
B Jake Moran
Well, Captain Obvious notes the stupid exhause extensions. I do not know anybody that does that, yet we see it on these forums often. Dual exhaust is incorrect but if done reasonably well, will aid in gas mileage and modest engine performance.
John_S_in_Penna
It's refreshing to see a dealer price something realistically, well within people's buying range. Other dealers should learn of the good will that this practice will gain them!
avgwarhawk
Great daily car. The dual exhaust? I do not recall duals on Buicks of this era. Then again, I do not remember a lot. Brad Conley
Your memory is not failing you, Chris. Last year for factory duals was 1974, I believe.

This Electra coupe seems ordinary to those with long memories. However, they are seldom seen today. My idea: if someone wants an old car of this era to drive regularly, choose a Riviera instead. Rivieras are seen far more often today, and wearing out a Riviera instead of an Electra won't affect the population much. It's hard to imagine, but true: The once common 1980-85 Skylarks, the 1982-up Regal sedans, the Century sedans, are no longer with us. Most have disappeared without any Buick fans noticing! Grand Nationals of 1987, and Rivieras, constitute most of the remaining cars. Edited July 26, 2023 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)
avgwarhawk
John, This era Buick/GM products is what I cut my teeth on when wrenching for Goodyear. Plush velour. Cloud like ride. Nice styling. My first car was a 78 Regal coupe with 231 odd fire. This Buick I would drive every day with out hesitation. Truth be told, I'd drive a Chevrolet Chevette if it was in good nick.
EmTee
I had an '85 Delta 88; basically the same car. These were good runners - not fast with the 307, but it ran buttery smooth and would consume the highway miles effortlessly. I can't imagine someone slapping $7500 cash on the table and leaving disappointed...
Aaron65
These have aged well, in my opinion; I like them more now than I ever did. My parents bought an '83 LeSabre coupe in this color new when I was six, and it was a lemon that finally had a replacement engine installed two years later. The years, however, have mellowed any hard feelings I might have had about it by proxy through my parents, and honestly, I think the Electra looks even better. My cousin eventually ended up with the LeSabre and attempted to use it as an off-road vehicle at some point. Things didn't go as planned and he burned it to the ground, so one more gone, I guess. John_S_in_Penna
I checked, and this Electra is now sold. The dealer priced it appropriately for "quick sale."
