1977 New Yorker 2 door $6,500 73,000 miles

Recommended Posts

I remember going car shopping with my parents, had to be late summer / early fall of 1976....We went to the Chrysler / Plymouth Dealership in Beacon, NY and they were looking at the four door version of this model... I really liked it and my Dad did as well, but Mom thought it was too big for her to drive...they ended up buying a new Cougar XR7.

Wouldn't you like to take a long trip with your

family, nestled in those deep, soft seats with

luggage neatly packed in the big trunk?

That's like my Mama. After decades of driving full-size Chevrolets and Oldsmobiles she dropped down to a 1976 Cutlass sedan, and within a few months of my Dad's death she downsized further to a Dodge Aries sedan. Her comment? "If it hadn't been for your daddy I'd have had something like this 25 years ago." Course he was a big guy and needed a big car to travel comfortably. He always said a 60/40 seat was the best thing ever invented.

Earth tones were all the rage in the late 70s. I was an exec with a major movie theatre chain and we couldn't move away from cold blues and grays to warm earth tones fast enough. Thank goodness this car is a few states too far away or I'd be revisiting 1977!

Most know I am a fan of browns, tans and gold tones.   It's an era thing.  In the late 30's they had "Desert Beige" and similar tones. My favorite 1954 Buick color is Casino Beige. But Beige with too much yellow in it, from the 70's and 80's, I am not a big fan.

This car appears to have a hint of red or bronze in the brown metallic paint, and yes I love it too.
