Those cars are just quirky enough to be at home in my driveway. Don't misunderstand me, they are ugly but compared to the 70 VW van that was parked there at one time this thing looks like a rocket. And I know for a fact that it is going to be a lot more reliable.

I think these are another example of quirky styling that seemed bad at the time but now, years later, it's bold statement is appreciated as a reflection of its time. Or to say it plainer, Kool Man! Also, the slant six is a great engine!

These Plain Jane utility cars are priced all over the place.

I am a slant six geek as they pretty much refuse to die.

I spotted one recently and made my move. I will post when I finish the deal.

Compared to the used soap bars currently roaming the roads a 1st-gen Valiant or Lancer is positively stylish!

 

At least in the last few years carmakers have realized a touch of brightwork here and there can change the whole perception of a vehicle. Though I still wonder what's up with some of the Asian brands. Where they put bright trim is sometimes plumb incoherent.
