What I seen at the junkyard today

I grabbed the dash cluster and pad from a 65 Mercury so after I got it out walked around it.

Looks like your Mercury donor is a factory A/C car?

Yes it is and so is mine,I had to grab those parts before they deteriorated any more.  I hope I do not have to take mine apart as it was a pain to get the dash apart.  The gauges are still in very good shape and I have them in case they go bad in mine.

Junk yards like that don't exist in most of Calif any longer.

Too many environmental regulations in the state for anything like this to exist.

 

I would love to wander through and just look at the cars.

That 49 Plymouth donated it's generator to my 50 Chrysler around 30 years ago and it's grille to a friend's grandsons 49.

Same thing for my area in MD, only it was the high price of scrap metal a few years ago. Most of the yards around me have an 'old car' cut off date of about 1990. Everything else goes to the crusher.

For sure worth the effort. That's a 26-27 engine, with the stronger crankshaft.
