Carb synchronization tool

I used one like that back in the late 1950s through the late 1960s when I was dealing with MG, Triumph, Jaguar, Alfa-Romeo, and other cars where it was important to "BALANCE" the pair, or the trio of carburetors.

I don't need it right now, Larry,

but if that's my Xmas gift, you can borrow it anytime you want.

Just come south during the cold months to get it

Yes, it can be a helpful tool.

The carb's vacuum raises a pith ball in a glass tube

achieving the same height in the dual/triple carbs confirms carb balance and a hopefully smoother running engine, assuming all else is equal

I should probably get one now that I have another Corvair-

New ones are on Amazon/Ebay for around $20 and free shipping,

and same ones at around $50

Thewy carry the same brand name, but are made in China

Another item that has disappeared into the mists of time.

Um, no, still made, see:

I have one, since I work on Corvairs all the time. But, I last used it 30 years ago? I sync the two (or 4) carbs by sound and feel.

I worked on MG's and Healy's in the 60's , I used a long piece of large vacuum hose . Held it at the carb inlet and listened to  the suction on the other end. I finally bought one of those tools , and didn't notice an improvement over the hose.

Along with using the sync tool was the sparkplug with the see-through body so you could see the burn. Least that's how I did my British cars back in the day. :)
