kingrudy
Not the car that you see every day. I like the small v8 in this car and I like the style, a little different without going full on goofy.
plymouthcranbrook
Pretty nice. And the price is at a reasonable level to start a negotiation on.
JamesR
Wow, I really like this car. Mercury intermediates of this era aren't something I see very often, at least around here. And a two door HT example with a V-8 is especially appealing. If I had a little more cash freed up I'd probably be asking AdamInNH to check it for me! 😄 (Thanks for that offer Adam.) I'd only be concerned about rust in that part of the world, but I don't see too much evidence of serious rust.
Sal Hepatica
There has never been a lot of collector interest in these intermediate Meteors. I put them on the same par as a 53-54 Plymouth.... they may be nice but they don't bring a lot of money.

alsancle
What the bleep happened to the wheels?
Jim Skelly
I would have to offer several thousand less after the lame striping job and removal of the factory wheel covers. Edited April 2, 2023 by Jim Skelly (see edit history)
kingrudy
The beginning of rust in several pictures would bother me. You can't cover that up with pinstripes. I would like to see the underside of this car.
gofasttoday
Pinstripes are removable with easy off oven cleaner will not effect the paint. Edited April 2, 2023 by ford40 (see edit history)
JamesR
Yeah, that's why it wouldn't sell: NO PINSTRIPES! Now it'll sell...and at an even higher price. (I still like the car, though.) 1 1
Jim Skelly
"On 4/1/23, Seller increased price to $10,500 and relisted" certainly an April Fool's joke
rocketraider
Always liked the downsized Meteors and Fairlanes. They were "right-sized" - not as drastic as similar year Mopars (and not as jarringly styled), and they made GM sit up and take notice. These cars did in the GM Y-body cars. Mercury had nice styling in early 60s and Comet, Meteor and the big cars shared a lot of brand identity styling cues. Never mind they were "dressed-up Fords".
1957Birdman
It is also good that it has the 260 "Challenger" V8 and not the 221 which was a bit of a wheezer. This car is pretty well optioned with power steering and brakes beside the automatic transmission. I agree that a thorough examination for rust issues is a necessity.
