  1. Even rarer are the '61 Meteor 600's with the 223 straight six. Only year Mercury wasn't all V8 in the senior cars.
  2. Repainted blue, and white was never offered on dash, iirc. Odd positioning of the battery; it was originally a 6, as the V8 wasn't available until mid '63. I had an S22 sedan like this, but it was a rough real '63 V8 car. Couple offered to buy it; I kept the engine, front buckets, console and brackets. I was happy, they were happy. Sold the roller for $800. They are easy to work on, mechanical parts are readily available.
  3. Champion designates 6 cylinder. The V has a "lazy S" insert, instead of a "lazy 8". Not only no radio, but seems to have heater delete!
  4. Poor pics. Looks good; bubbling in rear wheelhouse? 232 & BW automatic: torque tube, all coil suspension. I wonder what it needs?
  5. The latter day nostalgia darling of the fabulous fifties. However, they looked downright dowdy next to the stunning '57 Fury, and the '57 Fairlane. Ford outsold Chevy in '57. They became popular as used cars with the hot rod crowd, and that's where the "fame" started. I always walk by the '55-7 Chevys at a show. It's like they're still making them. In fact, they are... you can buy bodies.
  6. The original '66 Toronado took my breath away, beautiful design. Then the second generation came along. Completely forgettable. Add the XS package...when they were new I thought "They took a boxy pig and put a 'novel' back window in!". Excess... they were sure named right. I thought that they would eventually become collectible- but not by me!
  7. Stude liked yellow valve covers. The ohv six was developed from the Champion flathead six, and had a reputation for cracked heads. Stude did a nice job considering the body goes back to 1953. In '63 they finally revised the mid-'55 "Vista" wraparound windshield to update the roofline. Looks like a nice Stude!
  8. Maroon and green interior? I've always thought these were rather homely- particularly in sedans. Droopy eyes and sad mouth. Ungainly roofline. Just my opinion!
  9. Sometime after the war, my father in law bought a '29 Buick sedan. His father said it was too dangerous to drive and forced him to sell it. He is 95- and still resents that his dad made him sell it.
  10. If this were close, I'd "go look", but think a non-runner cold piece like this puts it into the "$1500 obo" category. Looks all original; too nice to part, not nice enough to restore. I always gently tell sellers of "ran with parked" cars that I must assume that everything mechanical is bad.
  11. AWK 912... good plate for a '66 or so 4 cyl. Porsche😉 That plate series was issued in Northern Cal., so we know where it resided in the sixties.
  12. It's my understanding that the parts availability for those Chrysler straight 8's is scanty at best. I don't mind the '49's looks at all. I could wear my hat while driving!
