1920's BRONZE ISOTTA FRASCHINI SPIRIT OF TRIUMPH radiator mascot?

Hello!

First post so hope I'm in the right place.

This was given to me by my grandfather years ago before he passed, I think this may be a 1920's BRONZE ISOTTA FRASCHINI SPIRIT OF TRIUMPH radiator mascot? I believe this was also used on the 1930 Duesenberg also?

Just looking for a value and desirability on this. It seems to be made in several pieces and is embossed with F. Bazin on the base.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Be safe and be well!

Ron Harris,

Here's some more info on your mascot, 'Spirit of Triumph.'

1920 Spirit of Triumph Car Mascot, Hood Ornament

"'Triomphe' by F.Bazin. Spirit of Triumph mascot, suitable for Isotta Fraschini car. 1920. Silvered bronze, signed, superb totally original mascot. This is the larger and heavier version of the two produced. Photographed and described in Michel Legrand book 'Mascottes Automobiles' Plate 530. This is the rarest of all to locate, and is a totally correct earliest example."

I agree, don't do anything to it or value will go down. Many a person has found a rare coin, for example, and "shined it up,"  thinking it's worth more that way, nope. Collectors want original condition for many items, and any attempt to "fix" devalues the item.

Is it for sale, or are you just curious?

So here are the different scenarios:

1.  Somebody stole the pictures and text from this thread and started a scam auction. Seller has zero feeback so possible. But auction has more photos than we have here.

2.  Seller came on here to get free advice, never revealed that he was selling or that he has an auction going. Bad mojo.

3.  OP is actually thinking about buying it,  but that would make his original post a complete fabrication. Worse mogo.

I think we are too nice to newbies looking for advice.

Maybe we could get a commission? I see it all the time, but we operate in good faith and try to be helpful. The forum is well known as the place to go for help and info so although not everybody is going to be forthcoming, I hope it doesn't lessen the numbers and quality of responses. It helps educate everybody.

The seller on Ebay IS me. I sell baseball cards and such. There is no feedback because I had to restart my account because the old one got compromised. I was forthcoming in my OP when I said

"Just looking for a VALUE and DESIRABILITY on this".  AND "Any guidance would be appreciated."

There is no Hardy Boys/Scooby Doo mystery to solve here. I had a item left to me with very little info, I didnt even know where to start with this thing, who better to guide me then experts here? Its not like I have a local antiques road show to go to and Pete at the local Mobil gas station has no clue. I got great info here about its origin. THAT answers Desirability. Now Value... It gets put on EBAY with a ridiculously high Reserve, THAT will answer the Value question. Its called research, no dark subterfuge here, no cloak and dagger...just due diligence.

I am insulted at the accusation and Thank you for ruining an otherwise productive and educational experience. My JU JU is in tact, hows yours?

Respectfully,

ME
