MN-Car-Guy
Hi, I'm new to this board ... and am interested in learning what I can about the value of a 1932 Packard 900 grille ... Any thoughts as to what a price range may be and the rarity would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
auburnseeker
You will want to post some pictures as condition will greatly affect the value.

Xander Wildeisen
Some elbow grease and fine steel wool would make the grill look even better. Nice.
MN-Car-Guy
Agreed. I spent a few minutes on it and it started to come to life. Maybe I should keep it as an amazing wall-hanger!
C Carl
Is there one of the chemical rust removers which could safely "deep clean" this grille? - Carl
Laughing Coyote
I've used Evapo-rust remover. Just did some stainless trim pieces that had rust on the back mounting pads. Two days of sitting and all clean.
auburnseeker
The only problem with evaporust is you will need quite a few gallons and a really big tub. I do like evaporust though as it cleans without any scouring like steel wool if the chrome is really clean to begin with. I've used wd 40 with the oooo steel wool and it seems to work real well as it lubricates it and cleans at the same time so you aren't just mechanically scraping away at it. Gunsmoke
You asked about value and rarity, I'm guessing very rare (I have never see one for sale), and price is a buyer/seller barter issue. Buyer if doing a rat-rod (what a shame that would be) will not want to pay much, perhaps less than $300. A restorer who needs a good straight core , perhaps $1000. My guess is value is circa $600.
Xander Wildeisen
There was a 1932 900 on Barn Find Hunter, that had the fenders off. Looked really cool.
MN-Car-Guy
agreed! I'm sure the purists hate this, but I think it's pretty cool. 3

mike6024
I would call that a cowcatcher grill.
Xander Wildeisen
I was doing the same thing.
Restorer32
Not particularly rare. I have 3 I don't need. Of more value than the outer grill are the chrome inner grill and the slat assembly. These are often rotted out at the bottom. The outer grill came painted or chromed as an option. The inner was always plated.

No problem with the purists on this one. It is extremely desirable, and nothing "un-pure" about it. It is not modified.
Restorer32
I like the original or at least original looking paint. I see no modifications other than the removal of the fenders and the conv or soft coupe top. No way to tell from the pic whether it was originally a coupe or a conv. Expensive car restored. Some have brought over $100K

Here in MN we don’t drive cars we care about in the winter because of all the salt they spread on the roads. It’s eats up everything, and that sand gets everywhere.
