ROD W
This is advertised as a 1914 24 and 25 Motor. I don't have my 70 years of Buick. Is this the 165 cu inch motor. I know its not the 201 cu inch which was dropped at the end of 1913. But I don,t know what size engine replaced it in 1914. Thanks Rod
ROD W
There are two manifolds, One, one piece and another looks like a two part split manifold . Is this off the bigger engine.

Mark Shaw
A 1914 165 cu in engine should have a starter/generator and have starter teeth in the edge of the flywheel. This one has a magneto, so it is either very early 1914 or an earlier engine. The split manifold could be for this engine as shown. 1912 165 cu in engine below: Edited August 9, 2016 by Mark Shaw (see edit history)
ROD W
Thanks Leif and Mark for that information, It looks like it might be a 1912 or 13 motor.
nzcarnerd
Find the engine number. Up to 8500 is 1912, up to 11005 is 1913, for the 165. Figures from Standard Catalog. I don't have an early one like this so don't know where to find it. Maybe on a support leg? or on the front timing cover??

Mark Shaw
Tranny looks rough, but I have a few spare gears if you need them.
ROD W
Looks the same as this 1914 B24 engine with the single manifold and exhaust connection at the front of the engine. As Mark said, possibly an early 14, as it does not have the electric start or as mentioned in previous posts being an export, getting rid of the previous years stock. nzcarnerd
Grant M is back on the radio here in ChCh. The studio is just near where I work. I will try to make contact with him. I know the owner of a 1914 Buickbut whether he needs another engine I don't know.
dibarlaw
Without a starter could this be for a Buick Truck?
BRB62
From memory, I believe that the export 1914's did not have the starter motor due to the right hand drive setup. There was not enough room? RHD cars got starter motors for 1915. Aussie veteran owners might know more.
Brian_Heil
This is on the HCCA Classified page: 1912 Buick Model B35 touring project with rebuilt engine Click photo for MORE photos This is a project that needs someone to finish. It is a 1912 Buick model B35 3 door touring. The engine was completely rebuilt and is ready to have hoses and fluids to go. The frame is painted and many of the parts are either rebuilt, new or in primer ready to assemble. The primary missing items are the rear springs, the radiator, brass lamps, Prestolite tank, and a good body. There are a lot of rods, bolts, clamps, and extra duplicate pieces included. Please give me a call or e-mail for additional pictures. Wheels are all there but not matching. The brass windshield is very nice. $3,
Marty Roth
Left and right side views of my (former) 1914 B-37 - which was the larger series of the 1914 Buick 4-cylinder. They are "Block cast in Pairs". The B-55 6-cylinder was 3 pairs of cylinders of the same bore
