  1. I have a 1950 Illinois Drivers Manual. Revised, March 1950. I would rate it a 8 out of 10 on a 1-10 scale. The Secretary of State for this printing was Edward J. Barrett. "The Rules of the Road" as it is titled is a must to have, to freshen up your driving skills and knowledge. $25.00 Call anytime: 501-626-0067
  2. I inquired about a 1 owner 1965 Rambler Cross Country today and left my # and a $500 offer. The car has sat outside for 14+ yrs and the owner said if $500 is all he could get he would let it rot. I've also been chasing a 1 owner 57 chevy 2dr,6cl,3 on tree car for 5 yrs and the owner won't sell. I did get to open the door a yr. ago and the floor pans were shot. It sort of makes me mad but you can't say anything or you loose an opportunity some day to buy these cars. We all know the out come but we still hope for the best.
  3. You need to stay away from the EGG NOG and the BROWNIES !!! The guys in the white coats may pay you a visit.
  4. Thanks Ben for the invite. I just put new www on my '50 this week. Most of the car clubs in Central Arkansas are gathering this Saturday for the "Toys for Tots" car show at the Zoo in Little Rock. Probably the last big show for the year. My 1st '50 I bought a couple of years ago here in LR. It was a 1 owner car and is listed in my "images". However, I sold it when my current '50 came up on ebay with a fair BIN price. Do a search "My new baby blue '50 pics" to see what I replaced my 1st '50 with. I'll send ya a PM with my # in case your down this way. Happy Holidays to you and yours. ---Dorsey
  5. Its great to see another 4dr being restored. I just bought a 4dr Super that has had a lot of $$$ spent on it, but the floor pans were just patched with sheet metal, nothing welded. However, the door panels and seats were professionaly done. Paint is a 10 ft'er. The person I got it from couldn't get it running. Since I have owned 3 of these '50's I knew it would run. A new condensor and set the points and yes she runs and ready for the next owner. You have put yours back together for the next care taker to enjoy when that time comes. If you ever get into Arkansas drop me a line and we can line our 50's up.
  6. I have listed my 1959 Chrysler New Yorker on ebay. Look at the listing and call my # with any questions. Thanks for looking!!!
  7. I have a '50 Special and mine ran cool when going down the road. However, in stop and go it would start to rise. I found a larger 5 blade that I was able to modify the spacer and installed it on my car and it helped. No one even notice's that its not factory. I walked thru and old salvage yard and finally found this one. I hear an old Cadillac with A/C has a fan that will work.
  8. Hercules made the body for the '47 and I believe they also made the '46 . These Oldsmobiles Woodies were massive compared to the Ford's. I can't wait to at least get one of mine finished. Thanks for posting this thread.
  9. Congrats on your purchase. Looks great. Why buy a chevy when you can own a BUICK!!!
  10. That car screams Bonnie and Clyde or Machine Gun Kelly. Thanks for leaving it alone for the next care giver.
  11. I have a 4 door '48 Olds parts car. I don't have a wiring Diagram. I'm into a loooooooooooooooooooooooog term resto project on a '47 and '48 Olds woodie. Thats why I bought the parts car. Good luck on your restoration. I also have a '50 Buick.
  12. I thought I would post another shot of my '50 grill. Gotta love a bucktooth!!!
  13. I spoke with the guy and says it won't start and has been sitting for 8yrs. Rust holes in trunk and floor pans. Brakes are iffy. Everyone knows the problems with something that has sat around for years.
  14. I have spoke with Ken when I was looking for parts for my '62 Rambler Classic S.W. . I didn't know of his collection. Is it open to the public??? Thanks for the pics.
  15. I don't think you could build one that cheap. Since it doesn't run there is room for nego.
  16. I have been on the set of a new movie being fimed here in Arkansas called " The Last Ride" directed by Harry Thomason(Designing Women). Its about the last days of Hank Williams Sr. I drove 2 of my cars in the movie, 1950 and '51 Buicks. The '53 Cadillac that Hank rides in was a POS, that I was hired to repair after the 1st day of shooting. It was great to get my cars in the movie and I got a non-speaking part. Hollywood here I come!!! Release date is early 2011
  17. When I removed my oil pan from my "50 Buick I went ahead and checked the main and rod bearings since I was this close to them. At least 1 of each. Its easier to replace the pan with another person or you will be fighting the gst and oil pan and starting bolts all at once. With help its always easier.
  18. I just wanted to update my post. I got a call 2 weeks ago from a movie company here in Little Rock looking for cars 1953 and older. The title of the movie is: "The Last Ride". It's about the last few days of Hank Williams Sr life driving around in a 1953 Cadillac Conv. My 1950 Buick was used in 4 days of the shoot. They also used my 1951 Buick 4dr Super. The movie won't be released until the end of the year or early 2011. No oscar for me but maybe for my car.
  19. Theamcforum.com and the amcrc web site. ebay has a lot of parts just type in rambler or amc and take a look. There are a lot of rambler vendors out there with reasonable prices. Dont get discouraged. Good luck!!!
  20. I love the style of the '46-'48 Olds 66 and 68. The massiveness of the car and the grill set this car apart from the rest just as the '50 Buick did with the 1yr only grill that it had. Great looking car. A visor and skirts would really add to this car.
  21. I thought the '48 olds Woody went to cheap. The massiveness of the Olds compared to a Ford is like day and night. Not to mention the rareity of the Olds. Its a shame that Speed TV can't see quality when its on stage. The '50 Ford tin woody broght around 90k. I'll enjoy my 1948 when I do finish it and have something that is more eye appealing than a ford.
  22. I have 2 from the '40's, (1)50's and (3) 60's. Olds,Buick and Rambler and Plymouth and Dodge. Like whats been mentioned find one that someone has restored unless you are mechanically inclined.
  23. It appeared to be restored and it went for $71,500. I was watching the car being pushed on the stage and Speed TV cut away to another announcer outside and when they came back to the auction it had already sold. I had waited a month to see this car as I have a '47 and '48 Olds woody that I'm working on. I was PO when they(BJ and Speed TV) show all of the hot rods and Ferd and Chebby but neglect to show a car that only 16 are known to exist anymore.
