  1. I hope you're right. Do us a favor and update us if the car comes together and is back on the road.
  2. I like it. I’d be willing to start your “go fund me” page and boost it up with the first $10 to be contributed. I also would promise one encouraging DM a month. I know you’ve hinted at your desire to have a steam car someday. Valentine’s Day is just a little over a month away and I think this would go over big with a vanity plate and your wife’s name on it.
  3. About 13 months ago my wells Cargo enclosed 20 foot trailer was stolen. It has not been recovered. I got complacent after it sat unmolested in the same spot for 10 years. I wish I thought to put some type of air tag on it, and I do agree with those who are suggesting ways to disable your trailer when it’s just sitting.
  4. Yes, there are a ton of replicas listed everywhere. TD’s are interesting cars and I know several owners who enjoy them. The GOF (the Gathering of the Faithful), looks like a fun event to attend. My pecking order for the T series is purely a visual thing but I like TC’s, then TF’s , then the TD.... in that order. it is just my gut, but I think TD’s could be flat or even have gone down in the last 20 years. there are some pretty nice ones that run and are largely original listed all the time for 15. There are so many that I’m sure some could be picked up for less..(12 cash maybe??). that fact makes it hard to pull the trigger on a project like this unless a project and the challenge is what you wanted all along. a great thread on here of a nice TD restored was shared by @Luv2Wrench check it out if a TD restoration is keeping you up dreaming late at night.
  5. Again from the Harrah’s Automobile Collection special Edition CR 1975 1923 Springfield Rolls Royce, Silver Ghost
  6. Scotty, welcome and that photo is an awesome family keepsake. Stick around and share your story and pursuit. A great group of individuals here on the AACA forums (consider joining) and they will help you in your search for a car.

  8. I hear ya...........Nothing makes me feel more like an old curmudgeon than complaining about the cost of things, but I do it quite a bit. The other day my wife and I went to a local place for breakfast, nothing too fancy, family owned, been going there for years. We each had an omelet that came with your choice of fruit or potatoes, we split a side of bacon and each got a cup of coffee. with a tip, it was 67 dollars. I scratched my head. In my mind it still should be maybe 30 dollars. for 67 dollars I am still in the mindset of it being dinner and i had a beer or glass of wine with my entree. I am in denial. mentally stuck to what things were 20 years ago (my wardrobe is stuck there too) I think for me, I have to look at the whole thing differently. As it relates to your pipe, I have to look at it as "the pipe costs a little over 1 1/2 times having breakfast with my wife".

  10. It is depressing to see what happened to that roadster, but speaking about the L29 in general, it has such a great look, that I wish I could stumble on a scruffy (but still has it's dignity) L29 sedan. It looks like something I'd enjoy playing with and when it is invariably "not running pending XYZ, etc...." I could still drink coffee and look at it in the garage. Better yet, talk a friend who lives close by into buying one and then visit often.
  11. I think sellers are frequently shocked at how low they have to go to find a real person with cash to come and take it away. I’m not just talking about “newbies” or the inexperienced. Experienced people in the hobby who feel they have a good idea of value struggle to find a buyer. a couple of thoughts : only buy something if you love it. It might not be easy to get rid of it. if any nice reasonable person who is serious shows up with cash to buy it and makes even close to a fair offer, take it and get on with your life.
  12. I have used this quite a bit for several years. It doesn’t have everything you’re looking for, but boy is it a valuable and useful website. On A couple of occasions I have found some discrepancies but it is largely very accurate.
  13. John, I applaud you for answering with sincerity and pointing out some of the good things the "not mine for sale" threads do for the forum and its members. I personally enjoy looking at stuff here and probably check it out once a day. That being said, there are a couple of comments you made that I don't agree with. Are you sure about that? I suspect that frequently the seller does see their listing in FB or CL, Hemmings, etc..... reposted to this sight. If one of us lists our car on FB marketplace, but not the AACA forum, and a member posts to this Not mine for sale, then the seller could very likely see the ad they created posted here at the AACA even though they didn't choose to put it there. Perhaps they like that as it gives them more exposure, but I wouldn't assume you're doing that guy a favor and that he's happy to see it posted here and picked apart on a public forum, with criticism (that is at times incorrect) captured online forever. If a seller put his car on FB marketplace and it hasn't sold for 6 months and they decide to google their make and model and see what others are listed and asking prices.....it is very possible that their search results will bring up the thread of their car on here if it is listed on "Not mine for sale". Imagine their surprise to see lots of negative comments by people who haven't seen their car, captured forever. I google makes and cars all the time and frequently the search results list a thread on the AACA forum that I then direct to and start reading. I think its great that you don't want to insult anyone (the seller), in the "Not mine for sale" threads. But you don't speak for everyone who posts here. I cringe at times reading harsh statements directed towards the seller of a car and the seller didn't ask to be on this forum. It doesn't happen all the time, but it isn't rare to see the seller treated like a punching bag as people who may or may not know details about the car cut it to pieces and make statements about a seller they don't know. What would those criticizing say if someone told them the seller is the surviving widow trying to move her deceased husbands cars? pointing things out about the car both correct and incorrect, desirable and not so much, attributes and concerns, all can be done on the site in a way that isn't insulting to the individual who wants to get rid of a car. The Not mine for sale threads are a great component of the Club's online Forum. My point is that people consider that the seller may read it and so we all should consider that when we post our opinions on a car. I'm Sure I'm guilty of doing this in the past so I need think if my responses to the cars listed are "fair" "helpful" "accurate". OK, off my soapbox. 😬
  14. The link doesn’t have the aforementioned Cole as the destination any longer. It does take you to the general site. When you then search for “Cole” there are no matches. perhaps the seller pulled the ad, but my suspicion is that it is gone and has found a buyer.
  15. Interesting, you wonder what would’ve happened in 32 if they did not have the light eight. Hard to look at those numbers and not see the families being supported by the men and women who were able to remain employed. Every day at work must’ve been stressful as people were nervous about losing their jobs and the impact on their family. I assume Cadillac, Lincoln, Pierce Arrow, etc. had similar contraction of production? I think I read the 120 was being planned at this point in time even though it was still 3 years from coming on line. Those numbers must’ve crushed some of the coachbuilders too.
  16. Thanks, I somehow missed the Cunningham build date and mistook it for an earlier car. The Cunningham is an interesting car, but it is not a looker......as for the Ghost, elegant, imposing, and dare I say, sexy.... (not many town cars would I label that way). hopefully the Cunningham finds one person who is smitten.
  17. Something about the proportion and ratio of the very back enclosed part with the landau bars, relative to the window for the enclosed portion, seems out of whack.....it’s too large? It overpowers the window portion? maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s because I’ve stared at this too many times. I realize it’s unfair to compare styling to cars eight years apart, lots of stuff changes, that was a lifetime of both engineering and design advances. But still, something about the rear portion is distracting.
  18. Surely this won’t last long. lack of pictures is disappointing but anyone Who would be a player should be contacting the seller immediately and hopefully more pictures could be shared with the interior and engine bay.
  19. These are great looking cars. I had a 53 Sunliner convertible that had a lot of similarities to it. I have a soft spot for these because my father-in-law had one when he was 18, courting his then girlfriend, my current mother-in-law. He said he would spend the whole day prepping my car to go pick her up for a date. I always thought we might get one for him as a surprise. The one thing he did say though was the August summer days in Oklahoma with that glass top, made the inside about 130 degrees.
  20. I saw this a few hours after it was listed and thought to myself "a realistic seller". For the right person, maybe retired and has the skill set to work through things (and prior experience with these year of cadillacs wouldn't hurt), this isn't the dumbest idea I've ever heard. And let's face it, a pretty fabulous car if you get to the finish line. A pic of a couple to visualize what the end goal would be....
