No Reserve: 1974 Saab Sonett III
Joe Cocuzza replied to alsancle's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I think I win this "contest" - at least for the time being...... I have, in the past, owned 2 Saab Sonett III's and 5 Opel GT's They both are cool little cars and I would buy another one (or two) if they come up. I have also owned a few 1972-1974 Mercury Capri's -

I believe it was called "Mottled" plastic. I had to look it up, so..... Definition of mottled - "marked with spots or smears of color" -
Yes!!!!! I did this once many, many years ago and found out that there was no oil circulation in the engine. I was lucky enough to stop the engine before any damage occurred. For reference I have enclosed a picture from the parts manual showing the entire assembly.

There is a "Pawl" or "finger", if you will, that is on the shaft just under the spring. Looking at your video it is on the left of the shaft When you pull back on the shifter I believe that the pawl/finger should pull back away from the shaft and then when you put the shifter "up" then the end of the shaft will move up and the pawl will lock into that area you pointed to at the end of the shaft. Maybe you have something hooked up incorrectly because your linkage is hitting the pawl. I can look at my parts manual tomorrow

Unfortunately, your "identifiers" may have been "repaired" through the years so they may not be there anymore. The best chance you may have in locating the car is if you have the VIN # and see if you can match it to a car in the NWC or Ford clubs. Good luck with your search

I would appreciate it if you could chase it down for me.

Does anyone here have a wiring diagram for this car? I sure could use a copy

I have used Minwax filler in the past and it can be stained or it comes in colors.

What about having your gas tank cleaned/repaired, if needed?

From my experience(s) the gasket goes on/into the lid - not on the housing. Also, there should be a spring under the lid that the bolt goes through.

There are plastic replacement ones on Ebay - if that is a direction you want to go in. BTW, what is wrong with yours that you cannot use it? -

I am going to answer your question which will embarass me. The needle was not stuck but me looking at the gauge (through my "blind" eyes) looked as if it was. DUH!!!!!!!!!

All good now

I have not yet gotten the car started. I have only been cranking the engine over occasionally. When I first started doing that the oil pressure gauge would go up to about 10-15 lbs. and then drop back down to zero - normal, right? Now, the gauge is stuck at 25 lbs. - no cranking - just sitting there So, where is the pressure relief valve? Maybe that is stuck or does anyone have any other ideas????
