  1. I went to retrieve my '52 Commander on Monday - the auctioneer KNEW for 10 days what day we would be coming. Not only was my Stude surrounded by dead John Deeres, but he had made a huge mudhole around the cars pulling out autos with a tractor while it rained! He still hasn't identified the autos properly, and forget about the parts, accessories, and tools. There is no way this guy will get enough money for the estate. I'm pretty mad right now, as I needed the money from selling my car. I don't know how long I have to wait.
  2. He needs a Sinclair and a few others to complete his collection.
  3. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: BJM</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Problem is he wants to sell all in one auction, which is not realistic. The auctioneer has been "floating" these pages to stir up interest - and it has. The internet has been buzzing about this huge lot of "new iron" coming to the market. The hot rodders want the Fords, the Stude bunch wants the cars for parts or restoration, plus all the NOS parts (like the headlight bar in the box), and so on!
  4. All the green Mustangs belonged to his late wife - that was what she liked. He also belonged to the Model A club, the Antique Chevy club, and the Studebaker Drivers club. He never told me exactly what he had in the barn, and it was so full of crap you couldn't get to all of it. He mentioned the Airflow once, but not the '36 Ford. Somewhere in there is the parts to turn a Model T into a tracked snowmobile, also a Model B motor with an aluminum head and dual carbs. He didn't know it was a Ford until I told him. Since he was extremely forgetful, and color blind - he was setting stuff down or losing it all the time. A fellow with a metal detector could find loads of stuff outside - tools, parts, etc. I counted 78 cars once, but I guess he had more stashed in the back 40 and was acquiring more right up to his passing. He had lots of opportunities to sell this stuff off, but he was convinced he could finish all of it. Like I say, a total dreamer.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1934-CHRY...tem120221186511 I used to work for the fellow who owned this stuff, he was a dreamer and had no mechanical skills at all. There are lots of NOS parts and accessories not pictured, and many of the cars are mis-identified. I expect the hot rodders to snap up all the Ford bodies rusting in the field, but anything from under the roof can probably be restored. Who plans on bidding?
  6. Andy is a big help if you pay him. (I'm serious)
  7. With evilBay located in San Francisco, the political correctness center of the world - I am not surprised that negative feedback will no longer be allowed. Of course, this was a founding tenet of eBay, and disallowing negative feedback will be another gunshot in the foot of those in charge. eBay is sowing the seeds of it's own destruction - we'll see how long before a backlash starts.
  8. Have you contacted Larry Tholen at the Rockne link in the Antique Studebaker website? Larry is the clearing house for all things Rockne.

It debuted in Korea in the aid stations closest to battle, before being medivaced to a MASH. Gluing flesh works because super glue cures quickly in the presence of protein (your finger), and moisture (your blood).
  10. Check the Studebaker Driver's Club website - there are a couple.
  11. the HAMB - a hot rodders message board. You'd be surpised how much most of them like restored stuff (and I don't mean to rebuild).
  12. You guys do know that some websites were carrying it live? No need for SpeedTV.
  13. All I know is that it looks cool!
  14. Have you checked further down in the Studebaker and Erskine heading?
  15. Good question. I keep telling my Studebaker club that the future will consist of people fondly remembering their grandad's Lexus. We better keep driving our old cars where the kids can see them.
  16. I was gonna say check with the guys over on the Antique Studebaker Club, but this is their forum designate. Sing out, SDC'rs.
  17. Try running in the 130MPH Club during World of Speed out on the salt (not SpeedWeek or World Finals). Go here for info - http://www.saltflats.com/
  18. There is a fellow running a Vega with an injected Packard V8 on the salt. He's still getting the bugs worked out, but it should be a 200MPH car eventually.
  19. In Boyd's defense, he didn't sink the 3 wreckers in the salt - the drivers were pinheads and tore everything up. All he did was drive beyond the cones to get around some water on the salt. He has since given a grand to the "Salt the Salt" charity, and the Bureau of Land Management has fined the wreckers companies bigtime and forced them to pay for filling the gouge in the salt (not cheap). When he attended the World Finals later in the year, he didn't bring his circus of shop apes, 2 helicopters, camera crews, etc. He also drove smaller vehicles, and was very humble and polite compared to his SpeedWeek persona. No spins by Jo, either.
  20. Don't expect much of a response from Packard folk, they have never forgiven Studebaker for merging with Packard. (They both would have croaked anyway)
  21. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Leonard Shepherd</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I just looked at Buicks on eBay and there are 225 Buicks (5 pages) listed under Collector Cars and 288 Cadillacs (6 pages). </div></div> Leonard - we should get J.P. to answer this question, he practically makes a living buying and selling Studebakers on eBay. If anyone knows the "ins and outs" of eBay Motors, he would.
  22. I suggest you contact Larry Tholen at the following link - he may be able to help you out. His phone & email is available there. http://www.theantiquestudebakerclub.com/rockne/rockne.htm
  23. No Leonard. As we Stude folk say, "I am between Studebakers".
