  1. Welcome Donna, You will get more responses if you tell us where the car is in North Carolina, the body style and condition. Is it running or not. Pictures will get you a lot more responses. We have a lot of members in North Carolina.
  2. You're receiving the error code because no 2023 National events have been entered in the system yet. These events are not entered until the local region hosting the event have all the details locked down. I asked an individual at National last week when information about the South Florida National would be posted. National is expecting the final information from Florida at any time and it should be posted as soon as it is received. Shortly after the beginning of the year, I would expect most of the Nationals to be open for registration.
  3. You listed all the brake parts you replaced but I don't see any mention of the brake shoes. Your situation sounds very much like the brake shoes are contaminated from a brake fluid leak. You really can't clean up brake shoes that have had fluid leak on them.
  4. Generally, your tow vehicle insurance policy covers liability only insurance for the trailer while you are towing, but not the trailer or the car being towed for damage. You have to purchase separate coverage for damage to the trailer and for the car you are towing.
  5. The Ford assembly plant has been saved and converted into a small business and activities hub. Designed by Albert Kahn in 1924, the plant began assembling Model T's and was in operation until 1932 by Ford. It then became a weapons depot for the US Army and finally a warehouse before its recent reincarnation as Camp North End. Most of the buildings have been preserved. History - Camp North End
  6. I think this is it. Chester County (SC) Historical Society. Transportation Museum - Chester County Historical SocietySouth Carolina (chesterschistory.org)
  7. I would also recommend attending a Judging School at the next National you attend (always on the day before the show) or at the Annual Meeting in Williamsburg VA in February. This two hour class will give you a better understanding of how AACA judging works on the field.
  8. Hi Andrew, With the pointer centered the way it is, you may only need a temporary chalk mark on the front of the engine.
  9. Gary56 you can download the Judges Guidelines here. It also includes the judging forms. https://aaca.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/AACA_2022_Judging_Guidelines.pdf
  10. SEM Color Coat is the best vinyl die process, but you must use all of their prep products and steps. My SEM color chips only go back to 1974 and the code numbers changed from 1970. You will need to go to an automotive paint supplier who carries SEM Products and have them contact SEM to see if they have a formula for your color. I see one in my 1974 book that may be a match, but go directly to SEM to see if they have a formula. They are wholesale only, so you will need to go through a jobber who carries SEM.
  11. The old headliner backing may be spot glued to the roof as well.
  12. Remove all the moldings around the edge and the dome light. Drop it down and slide it back. Position the front edge under the steering wheel with both doors open. Continue to rotate it under the steering wheel and slide it out the driver's door. I've never used a fiberglass replacement. Hopefully it will be flexible enough to put back in the same way so you don't have to remove the front seat.
  13. There are no adjustments on these transmissions other than the shift linkage if the shift linkage will not go into a gear. Use the search function to search the forum for your other questions. There have been many questions answered here about this transmission.
  14. Ford did the same thing on early '70's pickups.
  15. Radial tires will generally make your steering heaver a slow speeds. I don't know if this is true of the bias look radials, but it's something to consider.
  16. I'd suggest that you join an AACA, Chrysler or DeSoto region in your area for support. These are wonderful driving cars and with the M-5 and M-6 transmissions they will run for ever.
  17. If you have a front license plate bracket and live in a state that does not use a front license plate, many of us buy a plate blank and mount it in the center of that plate.
  18. Ford introduced the hydraulic wipers on the Lincoln in 1961. Thunderbird may have received them at the same time, I'm not sure. They are wonderful wipers with infinite speed control. If they are adjusted right, they will even park for a short time at the end of each sweep. Chrysler offered variable speed electric wipers for many years as an option. My '61 Dodge and '70 Challenger both have them.
  19. For AACA judging purposes, it must be a 900-15, unless you have a letter from the VP of Class Judging that the L78 is acceptable. Your letter to the VP of Judging should specify the tire you want to use and why that tire is the best substitute for the original 900-15 dual stripe tire. Since you still can't find the exact white wall style, I think one of the 900-15 tires that are available would be a better choice than the L78. Note that an 8.20-15 tire is actually two sizes smaller than the 900-15 tire required on your Cadillac.
  20. Very interesting. Cadillac and Buick were vacuum only in 1958. My 1951 Studebaker Land Cruiser has factory electric wipers.
  21. Chrysler first offered electric wipers around 1940, while GM stuck to vacuum wipers until 1959. Ford first offered them around 1961 on some models.
  22. From the Judges Guidelines: Owners not able to find a correct replacement tire should send a letter to the VP Judging indicating the specific size of the correct tire and that at least two tire manufacturers have been contacted and the correct tire is not available. Tires one size larger or smaller are acceptable. A letter from the VP Judging is the ONLY AACA ACCEPTED documentation regarding a vehicles' substitute tires. Any letter issued by the VP Judging should be shown to the Team Captain at the time of vehicle judging.
  23. Your spare tire appears to be an original dual stripe (one thin, one wide) white wall. These were used on Cadillac for 1967-1968. The triple stripe white wall offered by Coker is correct for the 1965-1966 Cadillac. As the correct replacement tire is not available, you can write the VP of Class Judging, to request an exception to use the tire you select. If approved, that letter is your documentation that the tire is acceptable. The process (and documents to be submitted) is outlined in the Judges Guidelines under tires.
  24. The Chief Judge, VP of Class Judging and others review the car list for possible misclassifications prior to the show and contact the owner if there are questions. The car was reviewed to determine that it is AACA eligible and the proper class for the car. Most likely, the application for Class 35 was not received in time for the review by the committee to be completed to be included in Class 35 for the Hershey National. If this is the case, Class 27 is correct until the car is accepted in Class 35. If it is accepted, the award will be moved and the car will be in Class 35 going forward.
