  1. My door ajar warning light comes up on the screen. How do you remove the switch located on the body? Or would it be something else?
  2. When I went to repaint mine I looked at other cars for what the current trend is. I saw a lot more cars with the moulding being the same color as the color of the car. It keeps our cars color current. I think the Reatta is styling current. Of course my cars moulding was the same color as the car.
  3. This is the simplest reason for the warning to trip. Watch during the "light show" or simply turn the ignition key to the "run" position without starting the car and see if your "service engine soon" amber warning light that is located in the instrument cluster works. Mine was out and that was the reason my screen warned me. Nothing else was wrong.A very simple repair...
  4. Heres the deal. As you know I was on vacation in Hilton Head. While we were there the women went shopping in Savannah and the men went junking. I found a '90 Reatta at a yard and forgot to get both the mirrors and the glass they are mounted on. The yards policy is that they won't look at the parts or ship them. So my situation is that I need someone in the area to both look at and pull them if they are good. Anyone out there interested? Certainly I will pay you for your time. Thanks1
  5. I am looking for someone to help me with a Reatta I found in Savannah. Could you pm me?
  6. We swapped our timeshare from Southern Cal.for Hilton Head. Ithink the cost of the swap was less then $200.00 then of course the annual maintenance fees brings the bill up to aprox. $700.00. If anyone is interested we are interested inselling our timeshare.
  7. We are staying at the Shipyard. Very nice vacation. Weather is nice but we wish it was warmer. We leave Fri. early as we want to do the Blue Ridge Parkway. [At least a part of it]. We are vacationing with another couple which is why we didn't take the Reatta.
  8. My wife and I are vacationing on Hilton Head this week. Today I spotted a red Reatta. Anybody from the forum? We did not bring ours down due to a change in plans.
  9. Very common. As a matter of fact last fall I was at my favorite u-pick lot when one of the guys there told me that a '90 Riv had just came in that was nice. I asked what was wrong with it, and the guy said a woman drove it in, saying that she had been told elsewhere that the motor was bad, so she sold it for salvage. The guy cut the serpentine belt fired it up, no noise! He still put it out in the yard as he can get more in parts then he could selling it...

  11. Blazer had a very tough run of luck tracking down a hard start just about a year ago. Click on his ID to the left to read his posts, or maybe he will tell his story. I sure felt for him. We all learned from him.

Many Reatta owners have had a problem with emergency brake cable rattle. that will be noise coming from the rear. My brake cable rattle was due to a missing bolt and that the spring that keeps the tension on the cable was not put properly in place.
  13. Belt being stretched is the problem.
  14. I average about 30000 miles a year on my Reatta, so by the time I put it away this fall I should have about 175000 on her. Then I will think about the supercharg upgrade. The problem is the engine is a great design and it is hard to justify swapping out a good working motor.
  15. Greg, If that is all there is to it, why the blankety blank didn't Buick do it? Is it just the '95 only?
  16. Changing wheels is to me an acceptable change. It does not involve "customizing" either the interior or exterior of a car. And if you get tired of the "look" you can simply put the stock ones back on or go buy a different set that you may like better...
  17. From other posts that I have read, sunroofs were not available initially in 1988, but somewhere during the production year a decision was made to install them as the sunroof was to become an option in 1989. So therefore late model '88s could have them. So Tommy is correct.

Thanks for finishing that for me Tom!
  19. For clarifacation I painted all the black trim on my Mustang 12 years ago. I caulked and painted my daughters Honda Prelude 7 years ago and it still looked good when we sold the car about 4 years ago. I used a paintable silicone that was black in color. It was not a painters caulk. With the weatherstripping being part of the windshields that are used on the Reattas, I don't know of another way to fix this issue. As I said before I am pleased with the results and am just passing on what works for me. Maybe someone has a different idea. BTW my car is garage kept 365 days a year.
  20. I have had good luck with the silicone caulk. Look for a "paintable" caulk. First tape off all the painted areas. Then apply caulk. I used my finger to smooth it out. Allow to dry. Paint with a spray paint in the sheen level you want. I did this for the first time about 12 years ago on my Mustang. Since then I have done it on other cars also including the Reatta. I have been satisfied with the results.

I use a toothbrush to clean the throttle body. Spray the carb cleaner in, scrub well with toothbrush, rinse with carb cleaner, wipe dry with a shop rag.

The only thing I see wrong with Jim is that he is a Viking fan... Lets see... he gives good advice willingly and he stocks parts and sells them for a reasonable price. He even tried helping, but couldn't understand what was typed. Yes, I guess he is mean BTW your spelling, punctuation and grammer improved since you employed a spellchecker program. Good for you

Seems to be much more prevelant lately, that people are so intent about getting their question out there that they don't take time to proof read what they just typed. That's one pet peeve of mine as well as the persons address and the year of car. Sometimes there is a Reatta guy right near by maybe willing to help but how would you know without it being in their profile? Others have expressed frustration at no follow up from the person looking for help that the problem they were seeking an answer to was cured. Just my 2 cents...
  24. Gray is the correct color. If you ever get to a u-pick salvage yard look at the spare tires in the trunks.
