  1. Huh? What's a glove box cylinder? I grab the latches from other Buicks at the local u-pick yard. Then my buddy in about 2 minutes takes out the glove box key cylinders. I keep the latches and paint them when I need them. Then I put back in my original Reatta lock cylinders and I am back in business for low cost.
  2. Where are you from? Maybe someone is nearby and will help you. What color interior/exterior do you have?
  3. Also if you try your right/left directional and the directional indicator works in the dash, but it doesn't chime or flash, check your front directional bulbs. Mine were burned out. The directional bulbs are the same as the foglights, so you always have a ready backup. BTW the auto parts houses have them at aprox. $10.00 each. I bought 4 paid $2.00 at a u-pull salvage yard. Just look for Grand Prix fog lights. They are the same and come out in about 5 seconds.
  4. There is a buy it now, 4 cans for $90.00 includes freight. Buy it now!!!! Just go to ebay, key in r-12 freon
  5. I think your insurance company will be talking to your mechanic friends insurance company. It's going to be his responsibility not yours. Do your homework, go for the best price possible, that allows you to keep your car to either part out or keep it for spares on your next one.
  6. That's OK. I have seen pictures of signs with high gas prices already. lol
  7. How are you reading the temp? I have a thermometer that has a prong and I stick it into the vents. Thats how I read mine. I have had readings in the 38 degree range.
  8. I am not as experienced as some of the other guys, but it almost seems as if it would be your ignition switch. The reason why I say that is your CRT only works in the radio function. When the key turned to accessory the radio function is the only one that works. I would consider that. The other thing I would check is the wiring harness under the passenger seat. On a previous post a guy was having trouble with a lot of the same things and when he checked and cleaned that connection it all came back. I don't believe the CRT or the dash cluster are bad as they light up [even just for a short time]. The other thing that I had for a problem that wouldn't allow the "light show" to work, was my drivers side power door lock accuater. [The rubber boot the door rod pushes against was tore] The door lock would get hung up just off the lock position and wouldn't tell the computer that it was unlocked therefore the show wouldn't come on. At any rate it would be a start unless you want to wait for someone with more knowledge to try to help. Good luck!
  9. Well Ronnie I don't think you do enough around here. It's a nice day get out there and do an R&R! lol Thanks again
  10. I would think custom or aftermarket is the only way to go. When I bought my Reatta, they were leaking, so I went to the local GM dealer [he said they were discontinued] and he printed a list of what dealers around the country had them. There were 2 of 1 line and 1 of the other. I got one of each. I am sure the last are gone now.

Or what I do is just look for one of Ronnies post. Then click on "click here" go to information and it drops down. Click on Tips/Upgrade/ Tutorials. For weatherstripping click on exterior and the first tutorial is window weatherstripping. I advise everyone to walk through this website. This is why I thought Ronnie did such a great job. Thanks Ronnie!

Hey Nic... Not to sound smart but check out Ronnies website. Plenty of info there to get you started on fixing your weatherstrip problem.

    ac compressor

It takes 3-12 oz cans to fill an evacuated system. I have been buying freon in EBAYs buy it now. I have not paid more then $25.00 per can and some of them included freight. Certainly it is more expensive now.

    ac compressor

I've thought of that, but I am sitting on 10 cans of r-12 freon and have the r-12 refill kit/hose.
  15. I just got home. My advice is stay on the positive. Only list the good sellers. This would keep you out of trouble. Also there is usually time to ask someone on this forum to look. This in my opinion raises the need for people who register to be on this site to at a minimum list the state they live in.

I too have a low freon warning. As a matter of fact it turned off the compressor. According to my mechanic friend he diagnosed that my condensor is leaking. I have to replace mine. Fortunatly I have been buying freon[r-12]as well as a condensor, washers and a/c oil.
  17. And the seller said it was perfect. Mine must be showroom fresh of the assembly line then.
  18. And helped ENOYTSUR find the car he bought. I think a $500.00 is more then "nothing" but far less then what one would cost with installation.

    TPS

Tom, I am wrong and CHAS1 is right. Now I don't know where it is. I still believe it to be the Throttle Position Sensor
  20. And only one picture. Hard to see what the definition of perfect is.

    TPS

I'm guessing Throttle Position Sensor. The little thing held in place by 2 stainless steel screws locate next to the throttle body on your intake manifold. It helps read the air/fuel mix. It can get gunked up. I just pulled mine and cleaned it with carb cleaner. I then did the seafoam thru the vaccum hose trick to clean the rest of the plenum.
  22. I just called it a rear wheel disc brake caliper adjusting tool. It is available at Advance,Checker,Napa, etc...
  23. I think I would try the raiator fan switch mod that Ron talked about. It is avilable at Advance Auto for $34.95.
  24. I googled "Ed Geins ghoul car" and it said is was a 1949 Ford.
  25. I couldn't get past the 3 night minimum until a guy from the Riv. forum pm'd me about a used CRT. I sold it and now it looks like I will go. My wife [who's not going] told me that I would feel "out of it" if I didn't stay at the host motel. So the question is... Is it better to come in Wed. nite and be fresh for the Thurs. meeting, or come in Thurs. and leave Sun?
