  1. 0K1148032 0 = Series 4000/Special V8 K = 1964 model year 1 = built at Flint, MI 148032 = sequential number, range was 001001 to 233508 for Flint, MI built cars for 1964 That makes the engine a 300 V8 like you thought. 1964 was the only year the 300 came with aluminum heads.

  3. 1958 convertible top codes are: 1 = Black 2 = Tan 3 = White 4 = Blue 5 = Green 6 = Grey 7 = Turquoise So 64 would be 6 = Grey convertible top 4 = Silver Mist Metallic
  4. There is no option code specifying the Wildcat option on the trim tag. But all Wildcats came standard with a vinyl top, so there must be a code for vinyl top on the trim tag. See this thread: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/253013-1962-wildcat-production/
  5. Not much more for me to add, as the engine number has been decoded and model number given. Frame serial number decodes as: 13819061 1 = built at Flint, MI 3819061 = sequential number, range was 3,596,807 to 3,880,011 for Flint, MI for 1940 The body tag will show the paint and trim codes.

  7. I have data on 19 1939-1942 series 90 cars, all were built at Flint. For convertibles, the bodies were generally built at Flint, but a few years like 1946-1948, were built at Linden. However, convertible bodies were often shipped to other plants for final assembly.
  8. Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a link to download what I have on 1937-1938 Buicks (I have several hundred in my database).
  9. 58292705 5829270 = sequential number, range was 5,568,000 to 6,240,099 for 1950 5 = Series 50/Super
  10. I think, based on other years, that 611 is Oshawa Blue, but I don't have the code numbers for 1936. Here is what I have for 1936: Color (Duco Code)Oshawa Blue (246-8188)McLaughlin Blue (246-8187)Brewster Green (246-50504)Oshawa Maroon (246-8619)Berkley Green (246-50703)Kingswood Grey (246-50962)Beaver Tan (246-8282)Valli Blue (246-5617)Rivermist Grey (246-50311)Enfield Beige (246-6013)
  11. Not a 320, but a 263. The 320 is about 6 inches longer than the 263, which is the same size as the 248 that would have been in the car originally.
  12. For 1941 and earlier the series digit is on the left and for 1942-1956 the series digit is on the right. Taking that into consideration, the sequence number indicates the engine is from an 1953 Special, making it a 263. So it seams the engine is not original to the car. See my post above.
  13. 23993874 2 = built at South Gate, CA 3993874 = sequential number, range was 3,892,008 to 4,245,877 for South Gate, CA for 1941 70215714 7021571 = sequential number, starting at 6,950,620 for 1953 4 = Series 40/Special (I8 263) 1941 MOD. 56S STYLE No 41-4527 BODY No C 1237 TRIM No 905 PAINT No 564 1941 = 1941 model year MOD. 56S 56S = 2-door sport coupe with full rear seat, 6-passenger STYLE No 41-4527 = Fisher body style number 41 = 1941 model year 4527 = Fisher body style number 4 = Buick 5 = Series 50 (Super) 27 = 2-door sport coupe with full rear seat, 6-passenger BODY No C 1237 C = body built at South Gate, CA 1237 = 1237th 4527 built at South Gate, CA Trim 905 = Grey Bedford Cord (2 Tone), available on models 44C, 51, 51C, 56C, 56S, replaced 904 after approx. the first 4600 cars Paint code 564 = solid Monterey Blue Metallic
  14. GM of Canada used it's own paint codes. For 1935-1955 the first digit of the paint code is the same as the last digit of the model year (leading zeros not used for 1940 and 1950) and the remainder of the code indicates the paint job combination. 759 = Steel Blue Unfortunately I don't have any mixing info for that year, perhaps you could try GM of Canada's Vintage Vehicles Services; http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html
  15. Don't know what the X35 is for, but 4411 looks like a Fisher body style number. 4411 = Fisher body style number (same as Buick model 48) 4 = Buick 4 = Series 40/Special 11 = 2-door tourback sedan, 6-passenger
  16. I'm a bit confused, perhaps you can clarify for me. Your first post: implies that the body tags should not say Fisher Body. Your other post: implies that all body tags (except a few as noted) should say Fisher Body. It can't be both ways. The job number tag is clearly not old stock. That style tag was used from 1925 to 1931 and, as you noted, all body tags (except those built by Biehl, Hercules, Ionia/Mitchell-Bentley, Fleetwood, etc.) had Fisher Body on them until long after 1931. Fisher Body dates1919 GM starts acquisition of Fisher Body Corp (buys 60% of Fisher stock).1925 Fisher acquires Fleetwood (July 18, 1925)1926 GM finalizes acquisition of Fisher Body Corp (buys remaining 40% of Fisher stock).1931 Fleetwood integrated into General Motors1984 GM begins phasing out Fisher Body
  17. The Fisher tag with the job number was used through the 1931 model year (see attached picture). The phrase "Body by Fisher" was used on the body tag through at least the 1982 model year (see attached picture).
  18. Because the P-o-Ps were stamped by people who didn't always do things exactly the same way. I've seen other variations as well, most noticeable is that sometimes the engine code is stamped as two digits and other times just as one (like LX vs X, same with the trans code BS vs S).
  19. Here are the rest of the data plates, etc. from the above car (yes it is a GS).
  20. It is model 44, which is listed as 42-44 in the table (42=1942 model year).
  21. I don't have one for every year, but here is 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971. For Buick the P-O-P was first used for the 1964 model year. Here is a post showing how to decode one from 1964: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/232499-64-protecto-plate-information-needed/?p=1214879
  22. Job no. 6910 = 1927 Buick model 51 Body no. 13324 = 13324th model 51 built out of 13,862 1954652 is the engine serial number, which falls into the range for 1927.
  23. See my reply in your other thread: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/262129-42-buick-data-plate-decode/
