The stamped OMP are accessory option codes: O=grained garnish molding P= Limousine dictaphone sorry don't have M It's not unusual for the Buick model number not to be stamped. Since Fisher used the body style number, I'm guessing that was more important to Fisher since they made the bodies. I've attached some more trim tags from Fisher body style 4933 cars.

As mentioned, the 8 just indicates the last digit of the model year. Adding the last digit of the model year to the paint code seems to be something done mostly by the South Gate, CA plant. The standard wheel color would be Aztec Green with French White stripe. After a short production run for the 1942 model year, there were no Buicks built by GM of Canada until the 1951 model year.

Here are some 1952 model 52 tags. In addition to rivets being used to attach the tag, it appears that the tag in your picture has been modified to read: 1952 MOD. 52-59 STYLE No 59-4519 when it should say 1952 MOD. 52-52 STYLE No 52-4519 This was probably done because, as Al said, some one replaced the original 1951 model 59 trim tag with a 1952 model 52 trim tag.

In 1952 trim 51 was Dark Grey Cloth and Light Grey Bolster and available only on model 52 (style 4519). Model 59 had different trim codes. That model is listed on the parts catalog for 1927. I have some serial numbers for a couple 1927 model 49 cars. If you post a picture of the trim tag I can decode it. There were two codes, the sales code on the Buick literature and the production code used by Fisher body on the trim tag. For example Harvest Gold paint was Buick sales code M and Fisher code 60. For trim, Saddle Cloth with 60/40 front seat in the Riviera was Buick sales code 366 and Fisher code 686. I think most online paint references use the Fisher codes and most interior places use the Buick sales codes.

The production number of 11 export cars you are referring to is for cars built in the US at Flint Michigan. GM of Canada production figures are not include in the production numbers for Flint. This is very common when people don't know that the engine serial number can be used as the VIN. Also, the trim tag has been removed and reattached with the incorrect rivets and the frame serial number plate is attached with incorrect rivets when originally it would have been attached with a certain style of screw. Was the parts car used to rebuild this car a 1947? As for the series digit (last 5) in the engine serial number not lining up with the rest of the engine serial number, it is not uncommon to see such misalignment.

Same place as the engine serial number (on a pad at the front of the right cylinder head) but the engine production code is stamped upside down in relation to the engine serial number.

If the car is truly a 1949, then sounds like someone removed the 1949 frame serial number plate and data plate and replaced it with a 1946 frame serial number plate. There are lots of reasons a person might do this and the plates are easily removed. Buick always used a frame serial number plate (called a VIN in later years). Some years the was actually attached to the frame and other years it was attached to the cowl, firewall, or door jamb area. The style of the plate varied over the years. Also, an X after the Fisher body style number denotes some sort of hydraulic power accessory not an export car. For 1949 this would be hydraulic window lifts/seat/top. An X after the Buick model number would denote an export model (see the attached model chart from the 1928-1954 Buick Master Chassis Parts Book).
