  7. Plant 8 was Arlington, TX. By the mid 1950's they were generally good about putting the final assembly plant in the lower left corner. Also on this tag the top code T (tan) is on the trim line with K for Foamtex set cushions. B was heater and defroster and I was Easy Eye Glass. The serial number for that car is 4A8007680, so body built at Flint and final assembly at Arlington.
  8. Yes, TOP is for the convertible top code, which they almost always stamped on the paint code or trim code lines. It just happens that the final assembly plant got stamped next to it on this tag. Sometimes for convertibles the final assembly plant got stamped in the upper corners too, just depends on who was working that day.
  9. Accessory option codes (Acc.) S = Power Seat Adjuster - 6 way (stamped on trim line because the upholstery shop needed to know it) B = Heater and defroster I = Easy Eye Glass (letter I not number 1) 2 = final assembly factory Your car is a convertible, so the body was built at Flint (G in the body number line) and shipped to South Gate, CA (plant code 2) for final assembly. Your serial number should start with 7C2, if final assembly was at Flint it would start with 7C1.

  11. For the Dynaflow, that casting number was used for several years, including 1957. To find the exact year you will need to find the code numbers, see this thread: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/193693-dynaflow-code-letters-1953-59/ For the engine: 43236928 4 = Series 40/Special 3236928 = sequential number, range for 1937 was 3,166,225 to 3,396,936

  14. Assuming the VIN on the registration is the engine serial number (very common back in the day), it falls into the range for 1931 engine numbers.
  15. Either that or the window sticker or invoice.
  16. This is a serial number (or VIN) tag (from the same car as the trim tag posted above):
  17. Trim 629 = Optional Saddle Vinyl with Bucket-Type Front Seats Accessory option codes: Group 1: E = Tinted glass (all windows) X = Power Window (Except Vents) T = 4-Way Power Seat - bucket, left seat only S = Power Trunk Release Group 2: K = Air Conditioner R = Rear seat speaker Group 3: T = Rear center arm rest Group 4: F = Remote controlled outside driver's mirror Group 5: W = Seat Belts With Retractor TOP-2 = black vinyl roof
  18. The trim tag doesn't have the VIN on it, the VIN is on a separate tag.
  19. Yes, it is just a number, it doesn't tell you what color paint or interior trim was used.
  20. SCO-1576-2 SCO-1576 = special car order #1576, the build sheet may list the actual paint color used 2 = Black vinyl roof
  21. I think you might be referring to the daily production reports. You can get those from the Sloan Museum:http://new.sloanlongway.org/automotive-research/
  22. I haven't had time to work on it, too many other things going on right now.

  24. In this case I think the combination of SPL and OO do indicate special order paint, which is why I asked to see the trim code, to verify that it was one of the trims available from the factory on the Riviera. Most of the special car order trim tags I've seen are from Flint for other models than the Riviera and they use the SCO notation in either the trim code or paint code location to indicate a special order. It would appear that Euclid used SPL instead of SCO to indicate a special car order. I've only seen one other trim tag from Euclid with SPL on it, but it’s not clear what the special order was for. For special order paint, the actual paint color was often listed on the build sheet if you are lucky enough to find one.
