Everyone, For those of you that are going to Chickasha this year, I will not be able to be there this year, but Luke Chennell will be leader of this band for this years meet-up. The meet-up will be in the usual place, in the building closest to the road/ where the offices are on the side where the parking lot is. The 9th position where the 4 is is called the check digit. Because the length of the VIN#s went from 13 to 17 digits from 1980 to 1981 that digit was added so the rest of the numbers of the VIN would be put in a formula and should add up to that number. The number is not the same for all VIN numbers. If the rest of the numbers & letters in the VIN# do not add up the check digit, then the VIN would kick out as not correct. A GM card below might help in explaining the standardized VIN number layout.

No. It just seemed to say Corvette to me. Other answers may actually be correct.

Correct. 1 is country of manufacture, US =1, 2 is manufacturer which is Ford=F, 3 is division. I am not sure what Ford used for the Class 8 trucks at that time.

The spacing is not right for a T. Try this again. 1FJYX98X5HVAC2810

If you are sure of the last 8 digits, you can call Ford and they should be able to help you.

See your other thread/post. It looks like you need to start on your car by cleaning out the fuel system. Look at your picture of the fuel pump & sediment bowl.

Looking at the sediment bowl, it looks like cleaning the fuel system should be one of your first tasks. IMO.

I would think that there is a metal tag or serial number stamped somewhere. Is it possible that there is a metal tag in the lower left side of the windshield?

Every tools performance is totally dependent on the person on the person side of the tool. I have a plain pressure washer and I use it for all kinds of work. It makes life a lot easier. The distance from the end of the pressure washer wand to the object being cleaned is the important issue. Rubber parts farther away and plain metal with no seals etc... closer. On the pressure washers that I have about 6-8 inches is not high pressure. Just like a standard garden hose. On greasy parts I usually use some engine degreaser before I get out the pressure washer.

Is it one ft. long or6 ft. long? Need to put a tape measure next to the item to help determine application.

Replace the wire or at the least replace the terminal after cleaning the wire. Then SOLDER the wire and connector. If you can not solder the wire & connector the wire is not clean enough and needs to be replaced.
