  1. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help with understanding a little more about my RHD Fisher Body 1935 Buick 50. The vin plate on the fire wall is missing sadly but the documents show its chassis no 208726 & engine no 286514. Is there is any way to find out more information based on those details?
  2. This knob only turns 3/4 & the roof does want to slide any further than this. Could anyone advise how it should be working please.
  3. I am having a workshop built starting next week for my newly purchased 1934 50. In the meantime dispite 2 covers the UK spring rain is teaching me about the very leaky roof. I have already stripped out rear of the inside as it had a lot of mould. I had hoped not to remove the headliner but it is looking like I will need to replace it now. From the photos does this look original or has it been changed significantly? In the UK cars of this age had rubber pipe drains that run down the inside of the pillars, Could anyone advise the set up on this car? All help & advice gratefully received!
  4. Thanks both. I think I will get a rebuild kit from Bob's autos on order. Hopefully there will be some common parts.
  5. Thank you so much & you are correct, fabric rather than metal. I really appreciate your patience with my lack of knowledge & am enjoying learning about Buicks of this period though trying to understand the history of JL 1730.
  6. Thank you (& for correcting my spelling of Oracle so politely). I noticed if after I posted but couldn't work out how to edit it.
  7. Agreed Larry! Full fuel system clean out before it goes any where near a road. The sunroof has been leaking so am removing the seats this weekend, cleaning off mould & starting to dry everything out.
  8. It is horrendous Larry! I am not surprised the previous owner had issues. The plan is to drop & flush out the tank, fuel lines, pump & carb. In essence reset the system.
  9. Thanks Grimy, I have 1 on order so will look forward to it arriving.
  10. Hello, I have seen an old tread in which Dave Haywood (Oricle) mentions a draft book on GM Cars built in the UK. Does anyone know if Dave is still on the site or have a copy of the draft? I suspect my 1934 50 was UK assembled but would like to confirm or disprove that theory.
  11. Thank you pont35cpe, at the moment it looks as though my car may have been built/assembled in the UK. In 33/34 these cars were modified to have dual side mounts & a sunroof. The pump is different from those I have seen on US built carbs, AC 855228. Please excuse the photo being upside down!
  12. Thanks, I didn't know that. The wheel base coming up at 118 but think that must be my dodgy English measuring & it is actually 119 confirming a 50. I am trying to find out if the fuel pump (AC 855228) is original & if I can track down a refurb kit.
  13. Thanks Jon! The pump has AC on the base but a different number 855288, does that make any sense? Sadly the vin/chassis plate seems to have been removed when a filter was fitted so they could use the holes in the firewall. Such a shame it wasn't left in place.
  14. Such a simple way to check, thank you 1939_Buick, I will check in the morning & thank you for the welcome. The paint work looks slightly better in the photo! I hadn't seen this 1 before. It is flaking off on most panels now sadly. Would love to start to try a understand the cars story. Do you think it could have been built in Canada as a RHD & then shipped to the UK at a later date rather than shipped over when new?
  15. Ah, I wouldn't have got to that by myself, thank you! I will take it off in the morning & have a look behind it.
