  1. Also, do you have any pictures to share?
  2. The XLR is the 2 seater that was built along side of the Corvette in the Bowling Green assembly plant in Bowling Green,Ky. The car was about $100,000.00 from memory.
  3. Since I am not looking for a judging vehicle,(at this time) I use a regular serpentine belt on my truck. Just measured the length and went to my local NAPA dealer and went through the belts until I found one that fit. Works great.
  4. ebay is the best bet Here are a bunch of listings. 1966 buick service manual items - Get great deals on eBay Motors, Collectibles items on eBay.com!
  5. Here is a great article talking about transmission fluids. http://www.lubegard.com/pdfs/shiftpointersbyWayne&Pat.pdf
  6. Agree on the ATF. ATF like Dexron has as much as 15% additives to the base lubricant.
  7. John, Would reconsider selling the open trailer if you have a place to store it. I bought an enclosed trailer first and ended up buying an open trailer because of the utility of being able to load about anything in any condition on the open trailer when I did not want to dirty the enclosed trailer. Just a thought.
  8. Based on what i know about this vehicle, I stand by my suggestions with a high probabity that it will fix your problem. The only other two items are the ground below the coil and the wire harness just behind the water pump that it is not rubbing on a sharp corner.
  9. IMO, The reason for the loss / reduction of sales is because of the overall reduction of the vehicle sales in the market in North America. About three years ago the annual sales of vehicles was 17 million vehicles. As of last month the annual sales rate was about 11 million vehicles. In the last couple years the annual sales rate for vehicles actually fell to about 8 million and change. I think that there will always be some sort of tow vehicle available, but the propulsion system will probably not be something that we recognize today and we can be sure that they will cost a bunch more.

    Plugs

The "S" on an AC plug identified it as a skirted plug. What you had was a little bit of non threaded area below the threaded area. That was the S/skirt that gave you a little more reach.
  11. I would put my bets on either a mass air flow sensor or a crans shaft positon sensor. A quick check for each is to lightly tap on each while the engine is running. If the engine stall or stops when tapping on the sensor, that would be it.
  12. The new cars are more complex and have more modules (=computers) than ever. Some of the vehicles have 30 different modules and each usually has some parasitic draw to keep memory alive. When you add up all of the modules it is a fairly high number. Besides the radio which has memory, the clock, remote keyless entry that is on, and the list goes on. It is not that the batteries are getting worse, but there is more demand on them. Todays car does not have a mode where there is no draw on the battery.
  13. The Y job is in the GM Heritage Center in Detroit. If you call them they might be able to help you.
  14. You can put a gauge on the engine where the sending unit is to see the pressure.
  15. Of all of the Buick's in the 80's that i drove (and I drove them all) the most fun car that I drove were the 83-85 Skylark T-Type with the high output V-6 and a 4 speed. They drove GREAT. Wish I still had one. Had about 5 of them as company cars. The Grand Nationals are a tie for fun.
  16. Well the sales price was right in the guesstimate of how much it would go for. Thanks for letting everyone know of the sale.
  17. I believe that in that era there would be common for almost all GM cars. If my memory is correct, and you have 7 wires, there would be 4 wires for speakers with one pair of the speakers being blue & yellow, another like a light and dark green. Of the other three one would be 12 volt battery voltage for memory in the radio/clock, another would be ignition normally a pink or pink with a black tracer and finally a ground which would be black. Hope this helps.
  18. Can you just put up the video and then lock the thread?
  19. Here is from an old (2002)auction and what it might look like for some type of reference. It us about 1/2 way down the page. http://www.oldengine.org/members/sbarr/auctionreports/schaffauction2002.htm 1915 International Harvester Co. Flare Side Truck $14,000
  20. The pedal with the upturned ends reminds me of a truck along with what looks like a spot for a steering column to be attached to.
  21. The water pump leaked water past the packing on my truck until I filled it with 50/50 antifreeze. Remember that new coolant has anti corosive and water pump lubircants in it.
  22. I think the Sloan Museum in Flint, Mich has one in their collection. They might be of help.
