  1. I went to a Silver King convention a number of years ago in Ohio when we lived there. Interesting piece of farm history.
  2. I took two 12 volt batteries to the local auto parts store just to have them checked on the new equipment after I charged both of them for a couple of days on an automatic charger. They both tested bad. Came home and put them both on the old fashioned carbon pile load tester and one was good/ one bad. The test is putting a load on a 12 volt battery that was charged and see if the voltage drops below 9.6 volts. One battery went below 9.6 volts and the other did not. Kept the good one and scrapped the two time loser. I would use a down and dirty check of the 6 volt battery by charging it up over night and them come out in the morning and remove the battery charger. I would then turn on ALL of the lights and accessories and after 15-30 seconds check the voltage on the battery. If it is less than 5 volts would think it is a bad battery. If above 6 volts would check all of the connections as suggested above.
  3. I would not just put some more refrigerant in the system. The system needs to be checked for a leak which is starting with the basics. If the system is holding pressure with the engine off and it has the same pressure a week or two later then the system is probably fine. A set of gauges connected with the engine running will tell a lot about the condition of the refrigerant side of the system. Then look at the electrical issues. I think I remember a compressor clutch relay controlled by the control head. That is one thing that will keep the compressor from engaging. A bad ground for any of the components will keep the system from working. A bad low pressure switch would keep the system from working. .... and the list goes on. Best suggestion is to start with the obvious simple items.

  7. I have this steering wheel that does not go to anything that I own. Could someone identify it so I can sell it? It is about 17-1/2 inches in outside diameter. It has an aluminum spyder and the center hole is 3/4 inch diameter. Thanks a bunch.
  8. Grant, Been working on the trucks and the wifes car with new paint, interior parts, etc. :-) (see below)
  9. Looks like a butterscotch color one that I owned at one time.
  10. I do not remember anything about trucks on the Natchez Trace limiting trucks like on the parkways in the Northeast, but it has been a number of years since I drove the trace. The last time I drove the trace I drove it in the Corvette.
  11. I agree that the best advice is to set a limit on what you will pay for a particular vehicle and then walk when it get up to your preset amount.
  12. Might look at the new item that OnStar has out. I it is a rear view mirror that I think has everything in the mirror. That way you could move it from car to car...I think. https://www.onstar.com/web/fmv/home
  13. That is a good thing if you drive in the parkways in NY & Conn. Trucks are not allowed and the plate would make you a truck driver.
  14. I liked the removal of the a/c condenser with a sawz all.
  15. My favorite place to buy a battery is Costco. I have had good luck with them and the price is reasonable.
  16. :DI am a VERY HAPPY GUY. Here are some pictures that I took when I was at Dandy Dave's:DHope to get the axle put in early this week.
  17. To the best of my knowledge there are no ciicuits that go to the door for the seat belts. My question is with the tan wires not connected, do your door locks work? I would bet not. That said, I believe that the tan wire goes to the door lock relay and is used for locking and unlocking the doors. If the relay energizes when the wires are connected, you possibly have a bad door lock switch or a short in the wire. IMO
  18. If you can get readings for the pressures/ high side and low side, we can help diagnois you problem
  19. Eugene, Looks like a big project, but you are doing a great job. Looking good.
  20. Might try these 1910's 1920's 1930's spring U bolts vintage antique early brass horseless car | eBay
  21. First thought is your have a dragging brake pad on one of the calipers. Do you smell any break burning smell or hotness?
  22. Hope it helps someone fix a vehicle easier. :-)
  23. Here is a chart of Vacuum Gage Readings which will help you tell exactly what is wrong with the engine.
  24. I guess the real first question is do you have a set of A/C gauges? If so, what are the pressures for the system? Just a thought that maybe the system has a leak and it is leaking out as fast as you put it in....Just a thought. After that maybe the low pressure switch??
