  1. All Cads Las Vegas- ALSO saw one on San Francisco craigslist recently
  2. Very Nice Video. Here is what I must add... I have a few judging credits and a few CJE chips and Judging School Credits. They were NOT EASY for me to get! I am out here on the west coast and it is very difficult to get to AACA meets to participate. I don't have deep pockets to get out where the shows are held, I WOULD LIKE to, but there is just NO loose change for me to hop around the country to do this. I attend as many LOCAL Concours d'Elegance events as I can, I judge at ANY that I can participate in and try very hard to bring out cars to shows. That said, I have to say that I have seen the AACA judges training videos used at some events.. This is a GOOD THING! But most of the judges are selected from members of the SCCA. I am not exactly sure why I am judging collector cars with a team of SSCA members that have never had any interest in MOST of the cars that you see at some of these shows. LOOK at the AACA class structure and think about how many SPORTS CAR CLASSES you see listed. THE SCCA members are not actively engaged in the collector car field as are AACA members. BUT, Now I have gone off-subject, so back to it. I would LIKE to see more AACA Judged shows out here where I can participate in judging any and all vehicle classes. I am ready...
  3. Very Good! I also want to use it. Every time I am asked "how many miles are on it?" I want to SCREAM! Just exactly how many mile do you THINK a 30-40-50 year old car has? And what DIFFERENCE does it make? Come on REALLY? Why am I selling it? GEEZ, I am saving up to buy a Duesenberg and an Indy Roadster and if I get enough for my 61 Falcon, I may still have some left over for the Bugatti Royale.
  4. My wife threatens me not to die first. Say she will stick a sign out front - "Free Old Car Stuff" Told her, that in the barn is about 20 grand wholesale on a bad day--- 30-40Gs in the one next to it. Then in the garage at the house- Hmm hmmm 60? (She does not want old cars in "her" garage) but I have 4 in there at the moment (hers too) AND THEN out in the shop----- I don't even want to guess..... And that leaves outside in the yard.. DONT look at my place from the eye in the sky---- Not good--- Hmmm-- "He who dies with the most toys wins?" Wins what? Gotta go now-- Just got a call about a GOOD DEAL--
  5. wow-- Very cool link! THANKS for Sharing! I'll have to send Terry some picts of this engine.
  6. Hey guys, The Roadster is for sale. The owner has decided that since he has room for 6 cars, that he must decide which two need to find a new home. I restored this Cadillac Roadster in 2006 to 2008. It is a total nut and bolt proper restoration of a well-known roadster. The former John Walton car that has been featured over many years in plenty of publications. The car is correct and has the original matching number engine (also rebuilt) I have many photos taken during the restoration as well as all the backup documentation. Just a look at the photos will give you some idea of how thorough this project was. Norm likes his closed cars a bit better, since he can take guests on short trips. The roadster puts the guest in the rumble seat and this is just not easy to ask of the ladies who don't want their hair blown--- So, the decision has been made. Price of this roadster is based on condition and difficulty of finding any that compares to this car. Since it is a V8 and not a 12 or 16, this hurts value a bit. But for reliability and dependability, the V8 has the vote hands-down. Norm should expect offers near 200K for this Cadillac. I have included a photo of the car prior to the restoration so you can see that John Walton had left it in very good condition. I have a couple of road test videos on my youtube channel search rodneyracer or try this link http://youtu.be/1zItLh7LKfA
  7. Are you sure it is a 26? Yep, we need pictures and a price--- Location location location
  8. Just keep in mind that as the system heats up, the coolant WILL EXPAND and push excess out the overflow. When the system cools down and you look to see if it is "full" it will NOT be "full" to the top. I am surprised at how many owners keep a jug of water in the car to top it off every time they stop and it cools off. IN MUCH LATER YEARS, this is why they came up with the recovery type system that incorporates the remote reservoir and the recover type pressure cap. This system will remain full to the top.. NO EARLY SYSTEM WILL REMAIN FULL TO THE TOP Just sayin'
  9. Anyone have any info on these? 5.1 bore X 5.5 stroke T head. I would like to see some photos or any info that you may have. They look pretty much like the other T head engines of the day. MAYBE a bit more advanced than the engine in my American Lafrance.
  10. OK all you experts. what colors are you using or expect to see under the hood? Silver engine, flat silver, shiny, semi-gloss--- what? I see every engine just a little different. AND I see ONE Desoto illustration showing the intake manifold is black, but think this is just to help identify it in the illustration. Details like fan, gloss or semi? Oil filter canister, cream color with orange top? Plug wire holders gloss black or? distributor ????? Generator ends natural or did the paint the entire unit? If I am doing this, may as well do it as correct as I can get agreements on.. Thanks! Rod
  11. Can anyone tell me what the physical difference is between a 1100X24 and a 900X24? How much taller is the 1100 or wider or what? Thanks, Rod
  12. I use PPG products because that is my ONLY local choice. HOWEVER, I can order and have used TCP products. ONLY the Urethane products. These are described by TCP as compatible with the PPG (which they also sell) BUT you can tell they are not the same when applying them. The TCP seems to take a bit more time to cure and requires more product application to get good coverage. Since I am in California, I can no longer get the "good stuff" so I am stuck with this water-base stuff that is not nice at all... Very toxic and needs to be done in its own special way.
  13. ATF/Acetone works fantastic--- Alternative if you use heat--- Beeswax and heat...
  14. OK Guys-- Anyone have a lube service guide for 54 Chrysler coaxial power steering? What does sit say to use for lubrication in this system? I have conflicting info here, but I do not have an original Chrysler/Desoto book for this year.
  15. Hi Ben, These are on a 24 Pierce Arrow- custom body--- So they were added I am sure-- Headlamps match but the headlamps also do not have the typical C M Hall logo. I have seen these on Rolls Royce. Actually, the originals were stressed cracked beyond hope, so I made these up. I had one guy asking for a set and now I am wondering who else may need these. These are done in brass and I also cast the brass mounting pieces.
  16. OK-- I am just getting opinions here.. No problem responding with any ideas or comments at all. Thanks! Rod
  17. Got some GREAT HELP from a couple of the AACA guys-- Thank You Marty and Ande! The kids are on the road again headed east on 10. Susanna says the help was REALLY appreciated..
  18. Thank You for the help from all the Las Vegas guys! BUT She is now puling into Phoenix. Tuesday eve. now. I finally got her on the phone (European number) and she told me the car runs hot when they have the A/C on and drive more than 50mph. I told her that may be what it will do no matter what--- But IF I can find a contact in the Phoenix/Mesa area that can have a look, SUPER! Anyone?
  19. Thank You Marty for the phone call! I have sent the info to Susanna and her father. Still trying to get her on the phone-- The one thing I really should have done was get her a local number cell phone.. She has her Austrian phone which can be a problem to use in many areas around the country.
  20. OK-- Fenders are same as 28-29 passenger car. I have brackets and all the other parts I need, just no decent fenders. Called suppliers and every one I called are out of stock. SO-- I am on hold until I can get a REAL GOOD set of fenders that I don't have to ship across country, risking damage along the way.
  21. Daughter of one of the car-guys I have known for 20 years wanted to see the USA--- In an old car.. The plan was to see California and head towards New York where they would send the car back to Austria. I have one week to find a decent car for them. I found a pretty nice 1969 Cadillac. Found a really nice one-owner car and did a little checking and away they went....... NOW they are in Nevada and the car runs a little hot. SO-- I AM LOOKING FOR SOMONE THAT IS IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA THAT CAN TELL ME WHERE THEY CAN GO FOR HELP! Need to check out the radiator and cooling system. The car looks like it has recent hoses, belts, and water pump. Runs great--- But could be the radiator is plugged.. Anyone recommend a shop in Las Vegas Area? Rod-7072877506
  22. I posted in the Ford section also. Would like to find some fenders close to home. Need not be cherry, just better than what I have. This truck is a display at a local Napa Valley Winery and gets some abuse from folks that want their photo with the truck... They stand on running boards and sit on fenders--- So I need to have some decent solid steel to work with here... Also need the braces, a front bumper, engine crank pulley (one or 2-piece I think will be OK) Thanks! 7072877506
  23. OK-- Go ahead and educate me about what fits and what does not. I need a pair of restorable front fenders and brackets for this truck I am working on. The truck is a decent old-timer that just needs some cosmetic stuff. But the front fenders have been hammered, welded, filed, and beat on so much, there is not much left. I have a few local guys with parts, but it seems they all want to keep the spare stuff. I also need a front bumper (I will paint it).. The fender brackets look like 30-31. I have been told the fenders are also more like 30-31 passenger car. Would be great to get a lower pulley for the engine. One piece or a complete 2-piece pulley is OK by me... If it all fits! Thanks! Rod - 7072877506
  24. Looking for the left corner stainless trim part. The small one that goes in the bottom corner attaches lower rear window trim to upper rear window trim. Yes, the one that you can loose if the attach clip rusts out. 1958 Pontiac model 58-2741 Two Door Sedan. Any Help? Is it same as a 58 Chevy 2-door sedan? Thanks! Rod Napa Ca. 707 287 7506
  25. This is not a new story to me. Having been exporting collector cars for 30 years, I have had to deal with plenty of problems. U.S. Customs offices want a title and a bill of sale.. PERIOD. Now, in addition, you need to know that the CUSTOMS OFFICES VARY from stat to state and office to office, regarding what they request. Texas wanted a notarized signature and photo of the seller and that info much match the title and bill of sale. Other states vary in many ways, but ya gotta have a darn title. If there is NO title, somone has a lot of legwork to do to get a new title.. It aint easy to do this and impossible if the car is not in the hands of the people that know what is to be done to leagaly secure an proper title. Just this week, I was at the Motor Vehilce Office with FIVE sets of documents to get titles for cars that are to be exported. WITH EVERY set of documnets I present, I have NO CLUE if I am going to be taken aside by POLICE OFFICERS because the VIN comes up as stolen-- OR EVEN if the VIN is a NEAR MISS of a car reported stolen. YES--- Near miss can be cause for detention until resolved........ It just is no simple task to export cars from the states that dont issue titles for old car.. AND of course, us car guys know about dragging some hulks out of a back yard where they have sat for years and title long lost... Well--- Ya gotta think that dragging the thing home is only the beggining, next step is getting a new title... The Legal Way. If you have no clue how to do that, you should not be dragging it home. ESPECIALLY if you are going to re-sell it !!! ALSO must add that Transporting a vehicle on a trailer or truck across state lines is no problem as long as no part of it is touching the road...
