  1. Hi, interesting theory, but I would rather expect that its in-line with other Fiats of 20s, rememeber there were types designation 501, 503, 508, 514, 519, 520, 521 etc..... My father has restored 509 recently. Josef
  2. Having read this post, I recall few cars of local make with "tired" frame. If you imagine chassis as a weak beam supported at its ends by axles and apply long term load in the middle (rear end of engine, gearbox, driver), then it become bent in the middle. The result is that engine hood is not going up towards windscreen but it is flat or even sloping down and does not fit to the cowl being over in upper part and showing gap at the bottom. Obviously this can be compensated by lowering radiator. However I am not dare to say Packard frame can be such a quality....

  4. Bobs sells the brake lining as well, so obviously you have to look at "brakes" chapter. I have also seen some on e-bay recently. The lining is sold in long stripes per foot (not rings), different thicknesses and widths. I would agree with 50jetback that the material is close enough but do your own judgement.
  5. Hi, front spring shackles would help me a lot, but wonder if anybody would part this thing out.... Thanks Josef
  6. Hi, the time of assembly is comming, shackle 208805 from 1928-120-128;1929-121-129 is still needed. Thanks for help.
  7. Looking for windscreen for my friends 1920 3-35. Any condition considered, also patterns are welcome. Thanks in advance. Josef
  8. Just to add my few penny worth - Master is always the bigger engine, recogniseable by water outlet alongside of the whole engine head, usually 3 or 4 legged; while Standard (smaller engine) has a short pipe leading from the front of engine head to radiator. Josef
  9. Thanks for reminder, I am looking one for wire wheel. Josef
  10. Hi, Looking for a friend a good hubcap for 30-44 roadster. At least one as pattern or more. Any condition considered for right price. Thanks Josef

  13. Hi, the drums can be welded easily as the material is "just" sheet metal. Verified on the original one for wooden wheel where I blinded and re-drilled the holes. I am confident I can repair worn ones by welding a short piece of a big pipe on it. Josef
  14. Thanks for hint, RBC delivers stuff to factory I am working for so I ask them!
  15. Does anybody know where to get replacement for front axle king pin thrust bearings? I have measured ID 1", OD 1 15/16", thickness 7/16", 5/16 balls. Similar size OK, I am able to grind off a bit here and there. Original was manufactured by Nice Ball Bearings, Philadelphia. Also looking for front spring shackle 208805 fit from ;1928-120-128;1929-121-129 with good thread, see http://forums.aaca.org/f165/front-spring-shackle-rear-spring-block-266864.html Thanks Josef
  16. 1 liter is equal to 1000 cubic centimeters (ccm); 1 cubic inch (ci) is equal to 2,54x2,54x2,54 (=16,387) ccm; 1 liter therefore has 1000 / 16,387 (=61,024 ci). Josef
  17. Leif, thanks for all your help, my email is pepcak@volny.cz. You can also have a look at my web for Buick and other stuff I am playing with, at Pepèova osobní stránka. Actually I have wire wheels and the wood wheel drums are slightly different (the central and fastening holes do not fit). I plan on to blind the fastening holes and drill new ones, and insert slightly smaller circle into central opening. Do you happen to know if the steel used can be welded? In such a case I would use at least 2 drums (for rear axle), on the front one I have one NOS for wood wheels and one acceptable original. Thanks again Josef
  18. Hi, does anybody here have an experience in repairing worn brake drums with external bands? Rear drums on my cars are approx 1 to 2 mils thick, while one front NOS I have acquired is some 5 to 6 mil. Should the worn circumference be turned down and replaced by new one welded on? Or should it be easier to turn a brand new drum instead? Any other solutions? Any help appreciated. Josef
  19. Hi, seems to me I will be able to handle elliptical holes in the rear spring block and also on the flat part of the front shackle. So if someone can miss the thicker part of the shackle with a good thread please let me know. Only partnumber available is that one depicted above, this is also stamped on the part. Unfortunately I do not have Master part book. Josef
