Period images to relieve some of the stress
hddennis replied to Walt G's topic in Period Photos - Pre WWII
Plate is a 1919 California plate but the Maxwell is a 1920 so must be late 1919 and appears to be starting a measured miles per gallon test on a new car. Howard Dennis -
All I can say is if you can't figure out how to make a tire end up in the center of a fender maybe you shouldn't be building cars. Howard Dennis

KM Lifestyle Mfg. Worcester, MA Contact Needed
hddennis replied to hddennis's topic in General Discussion
Thank You, that explains a lot. Mike just now returned my last call and we are good to go. Appreciate the response, Howard Dennis -
Has anyone had any recent contact with this company? They rebuild all types of antique automobile electrical components. I mailed them some Atwater-Kent coils for evaluation and possible rebuilding last month and other than acknowledging receiving them I can't get any answer by phone nor email? They have rebuilt many items for me in the past and were always on the ball and VERY helpful. Anyone live nearby? https://mykmlifestyle.com/ Howard Dennis

This reminds me of my own Grandmother. When she was 16 daddy bought her first car a 1914 Stutz Bearcat. She was 4 foot 11, Oh how I wished a photo existed. Howard Dennis -
I don't mean to sound harsh but if you don't think you can handle opening this up then I suggest you turn this problem over to a capable restorer before you do irreparable damage to your car or expensive components. Remember I told you the one I sold on eBay started a bidding war that ended up at $640.00. Howard Dennis

Have you opened up the one you have to see if everything is moving freely inside? Howard Dennis

Is the Napier equipped with railroad wheels? Sure looks like it is. Howard Dennis -
Pretty sure that 4 cylinder is just the right bank of a V-8 motorcycle. https://newatlas.com/glen-curtiss-pioneer-aviator-land-speed-record-holder/46766/ Howard Dennis

While talking to Kevin & Mike at K M Lifestyle Mfg. about rebuilding my Atwater-Kent coil for my Late 1917 Maxwell this subject came up and Mike informed me he had replicated this transformer coil discussed above used on early 1917 and older Maxwells using the Simms magneto. K M Lifestyle Mfg. is located in Auburn, MA and can be reached at: https://mykmlifestyle.com/KM_Lifestyle_Mfg.html Mike has rebuilt many cutouts and regulators for me. Howard Dennis

mitchwhodge, send me a private message. I've saved some old info found online I can send you. There are a lot of moving parts inside and since yours has sat idle for ages you will probably have to disassemble it and clean and free up the parts. Howard Dennis

I couldn't resist showing this, especially since a search turned up pictures I've never seen. Howard Dennis

Prewar special service vehicle photos

Little known fact that Maxwell built copies of Renault tanks in secret as well as artillery tractors. When the war ended early Maxwell got burned when the government walked on the order for tanks which Maxwell had already ordered all the materials for. No doubt this reflected poorly on Maxwell's bottom line from then on. Howard Dennis -
