  1. Peter, I don't know where you are driving but I I've driven up and down the Eastern seaboard for the last 50 years and I can't agree with a single one of your statements and statistics. There is absolutely NO respect for fellow drivers anymore. The roads are full of punks who think they are playing a video game 1 foot off your bumper front as well as rear! If they are not tailgating you they are seeing how close they can come to you as they pass and cut you off. Part of the problem is our roads are no longer patrolled to catch speeders and aggressive drivers but instead the police are now used as revenue collectors for local communities with speed traps preying off the locals for petty fines when they could be out on the interstate actually saving lives. On almost any given day on our interstates a team of police could empty a full ticket book many of which would be Super tickets with high fines that might save lives as well as fill local coffers. 3. Thanks Dave, I used to like to stop in and see Tony LaPorta and his Peerless and the GJG when in that area. Loved when Tony took me over to see Peter Helk and Old 16, those were the days! Howard Dennis
  4. Dave, years ago I used to live in Wingdale, NY and worked at Heritage Automotive Restorations in Pawling, NY. That barn looks awfully familiar, where exactly is it and what road? Howard Dennis
  5. A little over half a century ago a young 17 year old (ME) in his first car a 1961 Falcon followed this famous 1906 Locomobile down Rt.22 in New York and watched as Peter Helk pulled away from me at 75 mph on our way to the antique car show in Ridgefield, CT. What a shame young car nuts won't be able to have the same experience in the future. Howard Dennis
  6. Always loved this early custom.https://www.customcarchronicle.com/early-custom-cars/socalif-plating-truck/
  7. My grandmother born in 1898 absolutely hated the color purple and refused to have anything that color in her house. I suspect it dated to her childhood and a funeral or wake in the family home and the use of that color. Howard Dennis
  8. Judging by the lack of radiator and the shape of that timing case my guess is this is powered by a Henderson 4 cylinder motorcycle motor. Howard Dennis
  9. Can't really be of much help here accept to say every photo in my files of a Maxwell timing case shows all 3 gears running level with each other. Howard Dennis
  10. Thank You John, wow that got there fast. Glad you like it, I'd have kept it too but I'm running out of room and wife's running out of Patience with my hobbies! Howard Dennis

  17. This in my opinion is an aftermarket accessory designed for many different makes. The shield was offered in every letter of the alphabet as well as emblems of various fraternal organizations and shields depicting emblems of multiple occupations. Howard Dennis
  18. MaxwellFox, I didn't respond yesterday because you seemed to have done everything I would have done already and I didn't have anything to add. This morning I had a revelation. Did you have any trouble getting the nut off the cam? Any signs of someone beating or damaging the shaft? I doubt you'll find any damage but I had to ask. Now to my revelation this morning it came to me if all else fails I have a spare cam gear so give it just a little more of what you've done already and know if it all goes sideways you still have an easy out. Howard Dennis
  19. Thanks Dave, Guess I'll just have just have to keep stumbling around on periodicals and the patent website. At least we have a time frame thanks to the help you and your lawyer gave me. Howard Dennis
  20. Now that we know it was patented in Canada do any Canadian collectors have any 1920's or 30's automotive literature that has announcements or advertisements on this accessory? Howard Dennis
  21. I'd sure like to see the rest of the patent, the part that explains the numbers on the drawings. I'm amazed at how close the gauge is to the drawings. Usually the item varies a bit when actual production starts. I'm also curious why an item patented in Canada ends up made in Chicago and nothing can be found about the manufacturer. The hunt continues......... Howard Dennis
  22. Dave, I can't thank you and your attorney enough. It's even older than I thought. I'll pass this information on to the other forums I posted questions on. I sure appreciate the help. Howard Dennis
  23. Just posted new pictures. Does anyone know how to search for patents on this. I can't find anything. Is it possible it never was patented? Howard Dennis
