  3. Just got my NOS Lester 30 x 3 tires and they are marked Made in India and stamped FCE528510. They are as soft and supple as the day they were made! Anyone know when these were made? Thanks, Howard Dennis
  4. Steve, Here's some great sites for ideas and information to get this ball rolling! Northwest Vintage Speedsters http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/speedsterowners/ Howard Dennis
  5. Steve, Excellent idea! I've always had a soft spot for these cars since the 1960's when as a teen I first became interested in antique cars. Back then many surviving chassis's were just easier to turn into a speedster than to fabricate entire missing bodies. Until recently I thought these were mostly built during that period. After acquiring a 1917 Maxwell chassis I too decided since I had limited funds and no body I too should try a speedster. In my research I've found that these were a LOT more common than I first thought and contrary to what I was first told even Maxwell dabbled in several versions of speedsters. I've found automotive magazines of the period are full of parts for and inquiries and suggestions of how to build speedsters. This should prove to be a popular subject I think. Howard Dennis
  6. Coley, Thanks for the help. Howard Dennis
  7. Just acquired these and would like help identifying them. Mid 30's Ford comes to mind? They have T13870 cast into them and the number 6174 stamped in each base. The keys are Briggs & Stratton Basco Corporation and still have the number tag marked 6174 still attached so I assume these are NOS. Thanks, Howard Dennis
  8. Thanks Mark, very enjoyable! Did you notice the badge on the headlight bar? I wonder if the Duesey can be identified and if it survives? Howard Dennis

  14. No I don't have any spares but by salvaging the old terminal you can just solder on a new wire. How did you make out with the search for a new condensor? Howard Dennis
  15. MRCVS, I'm confused, I thought you had an Atwater-Kent Distributor like my car and now you say magneto a completely different animal. I going to assume you just used the wrong word and tell you if you have an ignition system like the one here it's okay to either solder the lead or just get a new piece of wire and solder the terminal to it. Howard Dennis
  16. Having rewired about the same year 20-25 back in the 1980's I can tell you they are just slightly less complicated than a house! Complete with fuse boxes, junction boxes every few feet and even armoured cables between boxes. I don't think I'd ever do another and don't envy your task one bit. Howard Dennis

  21. Thanks Terry, I too wondered that. Very well made but not a single marking. I should add it fits 1 7/8 inch x 16 TPI. Howard Dennis
  22. Anyone have an idea about how to find out what this fits? It's a very nice cap and I'd like to see it end up back on the car or truck it was designed for. I will use it as a motometer display base but would prefer it go to a vehicle it belongs on. Howard Dennis

  24. First thing that comes to mind is hose for a steam jenny cleaning machine. Howard Dennis
  25. Thanks John, I thought the same thing. It will probably be so rare there is zero demand. It sure is pretty though, if it doesn't find a home, I have a lighted radio motometer that is just dying to be mounted on it. Howard Dennis
