  1. Does anyone recognize this cap I just found? It is really a stunning NOS cap with it's polished and frosted surfaces, a feature I've never seen before. I think it is brass with a diecast overlay. It measures 1.825 across the inside threads and 2.325 ID. Thanks, Howard Dennis
  2. Just stumbled across 2 period "Motor West" magazine articles claiming one of these cars getting 46 MPG on the track and 64 MPG on the road!! Howard Dennis
  3. Thanks Bob, about a year ago I Googled and found a lot, now not much? Howard Dennis

  5. I'd try here: MMPAR.com Homepage Howard Dennis
  6. Thanks Bob. Am I right in assuming this horn should have 2 different sounds? No matter what I do I get the same three notes. The #3 terminal on mine is definitely ground as it is just a stud through the case with no internal wiring. Howard Dennis
  7. Trying to revive an old 3 trumpet Spartan chime horn. Viewed from the front the right terminal is grd. the left is hot and will make the horn cycle once and stop. I can't get it to cycle again unless I manually turn the armature until the points close again. What is the middle terminal for and how do I wire it? Howard Dennis
  8. eBay has a Maxwell generator on it right now. Howard Dennis
  9. Having recently found these 2 pictures I was wondering if anyone had access to more information about the 1915-1918 Mount Wilson road races in Southern California. In particular any mention of this 1915 Maxwell owned by Lord Motor Company. Thanks, Howard Dennis
  10. I don't know exact years but didn't Dodge use 12 volts in the early 1920's? I know 1916-17 Maxwells used a "twin six" battery to spin a 12 volt starter/ generator that then charged them as 2 6 volt batteries. later Maxwells were a straight 12 volt system Howard Dennis
  11. Thanks Paul. These are the more famous "Big" cars with the large race only engines. I'm looking for the smaller stock chassis record setting cars that Maxwell used to gain publicity for speed, endurance and economy with across the U.S. and Canada. Very little is known about these cars and I'd like to change that. Howard Dennis
  12. eBay has them some times. Howard Dennis
  13. Got the magazine and was able to get in touch with the owner of these photos who sent me better copies that I thought I'd post. Anyone know anything about the name on drivers clothes. This was in Southern California around 1915-16. Was there a Ventura Gasoline? Just answered my own question on Google again. Howard Dennis
  14. Thanks Guys for the tips. I just happen to be visiting relatives in LA so maybe I can pick up a copy. Happy Holidays Everybody, Howard Dennis
  15. Layden, until this picture arrives in my mailbox, this is the only image I have. I'm hoping the original offers more detail. Too be continued early next year......................... Howard Dennis
  16. The "H" hubcap, the cowl and windshield shape and the front fender attachment all seem to match 1915-17 Hupmobiles. Thanks Guys, Howard Dennis
  17. If I look at the squared cowl, I see what you mean but the Saxon radiator shell would match and this car seems to have had a hood that is rounded in the front and squared in the rear, almost like a Maxwell shell on a Saxon cowl. Howard Dennis
  18. Anyone recognize what this car was originally? Dodge? Maxwell? Howard Dennis
  19. I have no connection with this auction but is this a brass era transmission?? It doesn't look like any auxillary truck transmission I've ever seen. eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices Howard Dennis

Rockne is my guess, just send the prize to....................
  22. Thanks Dave, that's pretty much the same style as my research has turned up. From what I've seen so far it appears as if my horn was from roughly 1915 as it seems after about 1916 Klaxons were pretty much all black probably following the car makers trend of eliminating brass trim in favor of painted parts. My tag has no style listed and is the same as this reproduction tag I bought other than the number which I hope to alter to read 12. Howard Dennis
  23. kieser31 hit it right on the head as far as use and time period. This is an example of what I was trying to find more information on in my own post: http://forums.aaca.org/f169/early-lighting-laws-310575.html Howard dennis
