  1. CJ, I don't mean to be rude, but you're responding to a lot of posts that are 5-6 years old. Check the dates
  2. I believe my question was "framed" incorrectly (groan). I think the number Bob listed may be what was stencilled on the frame, i.e. Part number. The frame number that was punched into the top of the frame rail behind the passenger side rear axle kickup matches the body number exactly. Thanks guys.
  3. 113 cars driven is approximately 1/4 of the cars registered, yes? I think that is pretty good, or at least on par with past shows. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. I buy all of their cars! Bwahaaahaaahaa. My evil plan of world domination in the old car hobby will finally come true!
  5. Upon reading another post about frame numbers where forum member Marty Lum showed a pic of his frame, I decided to compare my numbers I just uncovered. My main question is this: In the rush to assemble these cars (remember number three in sales in 1955), would there ever be a "mistake" in frames placed in cars. My Century appears to have a 46C stamp on the frame, (but the engine number and body number indicate a true Century) along with I assume a build date and serial number. I know Dave Corbin has done tons of research on this... Just for kicks the build date appears to be 2-7-55 with a possible serial number of 057675. There could be mistakes in either of these since while scraping off undercoating, I was also scratching white stencil paint off as well. I would like to duplicate a stencil to repaint on my frame during restoration.
  6. Being a Progoofoff is merely one attribute, but instant friend really sums it up. One of the nicest, most knowledgeable, helpful people in our hobby. Hoist a styrofoam cup of joe to a fine BuickMan!!!
  7. Who better to give em a test run???
  8. When an uninsured driver who lives in an apartment hits you, there's nothing to take other than a shotty (edited) couch and rabbit ears TV. I'll just take the hit. Boy, that extra $15 on my BCA dues is really gonna hurt after this.
  9. Marty, I'm doing the same thing during the restoration of my 55. When I uncovered the frame number on mine, it was on the passengers side and upside down. I couldn't get a good pic of mine. I like the details.
  10. Something I have noticed since returning from the Nationals is that now I actually hear people reading their posts. I hope the memory of their voices doesn't fade. It's cool to hear Mr. Earl talk about the Landau, Thriller talk about his kids, Progoofoff cracking wise... Dunno, just never thought I was this sensory. Kinda cool
  11. Ewwww. NO! There is a company that restores vinyl dash and knee pads. May be called Just Dashes??? Google it.
  12. That Honeymooners 56 wagon ad really sold me. Cool!
  13. Gee Jason, Why did you post this? Looking good!
  14. Move along people, nothing to see here. (accident-wise) Got the frame back, looks really good.
  15. Oh, and as for the frame I was going to pick up? It'll be delivered to me tomorrow for an extra fifty bucks.
  16. So, this makes an even dozen times that I have been hit. USAA has been good to deal with every time. This is the first time I have merely laughed. At times, I have felt that there was a target on my vehicle. My mom said earlier "You are the best driver I have ever known, and this happens to you all the time". I'm not going to get too heavy here, but I'm hoping that maybe since I wasn't threatening the other driver like I HAVE done in the past, maybe karma will lay off. I have indeed learned an expensive lesson here. I didn't have insurance on the trailer. I'm pretty sure it'll cost $2k to fix. I'm not worried about the Tahoe. Look, there is nothing I can do... Getting overly mad won't solve a thing. I'm just very thankful that me and my son walked away with nary a scratch. FYI, a Honda Accord acts like a speed bump under a Tahoe. That sucker was totaled. I'm also lucky that I don't rely on my SUV for transportation....
  17. Sorry I double posted : http://forums.aaca.org/f115/just-marvelous-286513.html
  18. Just posted this in the Me and My Buicks section, but I know some of y'all don't head over that way... I'm fine, Woody (my son/ co-pilot) is fine. I'm just trying to sort out the details right now. Uninsured motorist (at least that is what I'm allowed to call him on this forum), pretty much tried to drive down the entire length of my rig as I was heading for the powder coater. The trailer is less than a year, the Tahoe is less than two months (to me, at least). Trying to figure out if I even have insurance on the trailer, may be an expensive oversight on my part. %$#(@. !!! Gotta go, USAA is calling!
  19. Was heading to the powdercoater to pick up my frame. Tahoe: Hit, paralyzed. Trailer: Totalled? May not be insured, I need to check. Me and Woody: Fine. Peeved at the moment.
  20. The parking brake is a smooth curved rod that is held in place by spring tension. You should be able to look and see what I mean. There is very little that can go wrong on the pedal itself. Not sure about the window problem. Even if you buy a new speedo, there is no guarantee that it will work. The jumping needle you are talking about is the interior gear slipping. It is going to bind soon and pop your cable. If you are going to drive it you actually may want to disconnect the cable at the back of the speedo head right now
