  1. Is the car warm and running when you check it? If you fill it with the car off, it will indeed be overfull.
  2. klynnbig, I'm not sure why all of these Martians are having such a hard time with LONG-NOSED FUNNEL, but that is indeed what you need.
  3. Also, did you replace the return spring for the linkage? When I was working on a friends 60 Electra, I discovered that someone had installed a double spring and the outer was physically sticking on one of the carb bolts.
  4. Suppliers? Go to a local paint store and have them mix some from their formula book, then you can have it mixed in single stage no problem.
  5. Yeah, But I don't know how much longer I can keep my mouth shut!
  6. The way I see it, this isn't a constitutional issue. It is a private forum and we need to follow their rules. If you don't believe in God you shouldn't join the Boy Scouts, etc. Very respectfully,
  7. Doh, I stand corrected. I should have stated that I had never seen TT clamps on heater hoses. I SHHH now. For the record, check Willie's engine signature pic. That paint is not from Hirsch and it matches my original paint on the 55 I'm doing now... Now seriously, back to the show!!!
  8. For the same reason we all have to use tower top hose clamps. I have yet to see an original 55 with them. The aftermarket suppliers have changed history. /re-end hijack...
  9. www.bobsautomobilia.com has reprints.
  10. Mr. DePouli, Thank you for letting us know that the sky is not falling. (Spellcheck makes me want to further Italianize your name)
  11. The other possibility on the seat is that it is ALREADY all the way back. I rewelded my seat bracket to move the seat an additional 2" back. There wasn't as much legroom on some of these cars as it would appear from the outside.
  12. Was there smoke? Smells? Where did you place the jack? When you try to start it, what happens?
  13. At the fuel pump there should be a 8" (ish) rubber line to a steel line that then goes to a fuel filter, then to the carb. On a 55, there is a pancake filter on the back of the carb. It looks like there was an online filter that somebody removed and put that rubber line on your car. Not sure where or what style 57's had, sorry.
  14. That is a really nice looking car, Jim. Some of the things that jumped out at me are: the dash pot bracket is supposed to be green (green bolt) and of course the fuel hose at the front of the carb shouldn't be there (fuel line should be green as well). Obviously the thermostat housing should be green, as well as the coil holder. All of the colors/ finishes appear to be close, if not actually correct. The hood insulation hold down is supposed to be plated (I had mine zinc plated) not rusty. I'm not sure about the last pic as I'm a 55 guy and that appears to be 57 specific stuff. I'm sure I missed other stuff, I will let somebody else show off now...
  15. Can somebody verify if this is the same as small series Chebbie's? I know that 61-64 big body cars shared windows across GM lines.
  16. Soak the bolt ends with Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster overnight. Then soak them again. Use vise grips above the strap on the bolt and use a socket on the nut. This is fairly common. Yeah, I wouldn't use a torch there...!
  17. This is very distressing news indeed. The Aggies need to be farther than 30 minutes away! INFILTRATORS!!!
  18. Tom, I believe that the courtesy lights can be purchased in reproduction from Antique Old Buick Parts CARS, Inc. as well as other sources such as eBay. Oscar, Any glass shop in your town should be able to cut side glass for you.
