Period images to relieve some of the stress

As an owner of a very nice brass Ford T, I can say that the “T” guys are harder to deal with on judging the the Model J Dusenberg guys. I find most of the T guys trying to do their best. Personally, a car missing its doors in not complete, and thus not correct. I also understand that it was done twenty years before I was born, and wouldn’t blame them for leaving it the way it is.

It comes apart by removing the clum switch and gears at the bottom of the box, then all the rods slide up and you can get access to everything in the center of the hub. Caution……pot metal and very fragile. I’m guessing the L29 stuff has been reproduced…….not sure if availability today. The Gemmer boxes are poorly designed. Only one guy rebuilds them.

I’ll confess to being a purist. That said, I would never paint that car that color regardless of its history and provenance. Even for a museum display………it makes no sense. Maybe it was an anti theft device? -

It’s a great car, and I had a chance to play with it a few years ago. Seems they thought it was a good idea to leave it in the parking lot while the local tractor mechanic was plowing the snow with the John Deere……..he did an oops! True story. Too bad that it’s puke green and yellow. Seems Powell and Gable shared a wife and a few girlfriends. Don’t think he ever owned a decent car…… -

They are a truck……a very fast truck. But a hell of a lot of fun. I would own one if I could afford it……Speed Six is my favorite. -
Wanted: Vintage City Named License Plate Toppers

I like the small hometown toppers. This is my current town.........you see lots of Palm Beach toppers. This is the only West Palm I have ever seen. Interesting that they just add a block with the WEST in it. So many modern reproductions that if it isn't some obscure small town.....they are likely to be fake.....as I am sure you know. The Panama Canal topper is very cool.......- 1 reply

Yes, both at the garage, they were printed in a CCCA publication in the mid 80's. Don't remember which one. My 31 Caddy Fleetwood Roadster was a town plow for 25 years.............to say it was beat to death is an understatement. -
You are correct.....what the vendors claim isn't very accurate when working on a 34 Series 50. Seems like it's the odd man out.

Hi George, Buick is new to me, and I have been told they are different……obviously I have no clue. I’ll make a call in the morning. Every time I try and source mechanical parts they don’t fit.
-
Ours is series 50……..the seal doesn’t fit. Story of my life.

We have a 1934……so we are SOL.
