  1. Marck I went back and looked at the article from the Reatta newsletter from March of 07 and it was a 1991 Claret/tan convertible you can read the news letter article at reatta.org Chuck
  2. Wow there is another one but it is in New Zealand and it is a 1991 Convertible The car is featured in the Spring 07 newletter written by Jim Finn. The car is owned by Cliff and Doreen Humphries. It was a very nice conversion Chuck
  3. If anyone on this forum has not taken the time to look at Rogers sticky at the top, take a few seconds and read all of the information that he has pulled together for Reatta owners. In the past you had to go to several different web sites and had to search for advise for how to items and had to search for parts vendors to keep your car in good repair. He as pulled all of the information together in one spot and It is a really good job. I think he deserves a big THANK YOU Chuck Kerls booreatta
  4. Got mine also, twas a meet to be remembered, If you wernt there ya should have been. Thanks Rick and Jewell Chuck
  5. Hey now that is really cool, I was a great time and I was sorry it was over. Good food, good friends, good music, good cars, great town. Thats life in the slow lane LETS DO IT AGAIN Let us know who the winner is Chuck
  6. Nic it is not unusual to see the complete portfolio go for $250.00 or more. It seems like everything is holding its value very well except the car itself. Hang on to your pewter car it continues to go higher and higher. Chuck
  7. I know thats right............
  8. The problem with one of those plastic tools is there is not enough room for them. I tried that method. The best one that I have now tried is the small mirror and vice grips. It requrires a steady hand but it works with a little practice Chuck
  9. Got in the old Riv today and the AC was not working so naturally the first thing to check is the fuse...Yep its blown, no big deal....UNTIL I tried to replace it. Talk about a a problem one of the hardest places to get to in the whole car. The AC fuse is at the top of the fuse box and there is not a lot of room. I am not a little person and my big ol hand just would not fit in the small confines. I finally got the fuse changed but now all of my neighbors know I have a very limited language. Might have to move after I read the home owners association handbook on conduct. Any body have a simpler way of doing these things any pointers would be appreciated
  10. I really dont know, I did a ton of research and talked to a friend at the Buick National in Ames and he pointed me to some information on the web and he did some follow up and sent me some more info. I then went and talked to the company who had been rebuilding mine and I think that he finally understood what I was talking about. He worked on it again and this time I think he got it right. I think these transmissions are just different enough that the shops just miss on the final set up. They might not totally understand how critical the adjustment of the TV cable is and they dont do these on a daily basis. All I know is if they are wrong, lthe car is a disaster to drive, but if they get it right it is a joy to drive. I guess patience is the key to success. I have only driven the car less than 100 miles but so far it is flawless. I am going to keep a record of how the car does by date in the event there are more issues, then I will know what affects the transmission, temp, rain, snow or etc. I will keep everybody posted as I am sure that I am not the only person with the same issues.
  11. After 2 years of putting up with the tranny not working right I think it is finally cured. I drove the car for 61 miles and all of the shifts are great. what a difference. The car is now a joy to drive and I hope it continues. Next stop the digital dash and cruise control and Jayson gave me the name of a repair man to take care of that. Thanks to everybody for all of your knowledge Chuck
  12. i agree check the trunk lid make sure it is locked, this is a common issue with the vert
  13. Rick I think that you and Janet would look pretty cool in one of them new REATTA droptops We could always need a new member. Chuck
  14. Hey Bill I know the wicked witch,,,,,she is from Kansas....Just follow the yellow brick road....I talked to her this morning:D NO BODY GETS IN TO SEE THE WIZZARD, NOT NOBODY NOT NO HOW
  15. Rick I would make sure that the transmission is in good working order. I have been fighting mine in my 84 for a year now. There is several others on the forum that are having some issues also. I think that I am about to get mine finally worked out, but I would check it and recheck it. Other than tranny issues the car runs great. They just float down the road and the 84 and 85 have the headliner and they are quieter than the 82 and 83. I have one of each. Chuck
  16. From what I have learned the pressure is very important to the shift quality. Most of the shift issues are from the proper set up at the start. In my opinion a lot of transmission mechanics dont understand how to do the set up correctly. I was able to find several articles that I took to my transmission man and so far the tranny is working correctly. I have only driven the car 30 miles or so but the 2nd rebuild seems to be much much better than the first rebuild. The article that I finally took to my mechanic was at www.tvmadeez.com I think it shed some light on the subject. I also think that it hurt the feelings of the mechanic so if he read it all, then maybe he learned something. I still have 2 small issues but they might not be transmission related. My Speedo does not work all of the time and I have checked the cable so I am thinking that it is a problem with the digital dash itself, and I also have a miss fire at 55 and higher rpm. I thought at first it was the tranny lock up but now I thing it is a carb or distributer cap issue. I will replace the dist cap and the coil and see what that if anything solves. In the meantime I will keep hoping that the problems are on their way to being solved. I hope so it has been a long year fooling with this issue.
  17. Update Picked up my car today yes on Sunday, my mechanic was working and drove car home and WOW what a difference. So far the shift points are correct and smooth. He told me he went thru the entire tranny again and checked everything and It is a lot different than it was after the first rebuild. I hope it stays working well. I did ask him where he purchases his hard parts and he told me it was a local company here in Wichita. The name of the company is A&Reds Transmission Parts You can look at their web site at www.areds.com I have heard that they are reliable. I know they have been in business for a long time, but because I don't know anything about trannys I have to trust other people Will keep everybody updated as time goes by Chuck
  18. Thanks for the info, I would have been fooled. I somehow missed the first post in July
  19. I see where the 82 Indy 500 pace car is for sale from the GM Heritage Collection is for sale in Kansas. There is no price. This car was on display in Rochester at the national there. It would be a great car to add to any collection. Car is on Craigs.
  20. I went and drove an 83 Riviera convertible and the tranny shifted great. While I spent just a short time driving I now know what they are supposed to be like. I have contacted my Tranny shop and have now replaced the Torque converter and should have the car back on monday and cross my fingers things will be right. Will keep everybody posted.
  21. Thanks I will pass that info along also. I have found an 83 Riviera Convertible for sale and I am going to take a look at it. I hope to be able to drive it and might even be interested in buying the car. Is the tranny the same model in the 83 and 84? The beat goes on Chuck
  22. Jayson mine is still in the tranny shop but I talked to the owner and he told me when they pulled the pan off there was some debris from the first rebuild. He said that it could cause some shift in the car. I wish that I could find another car that uses the 325-4l to make a comparison. Anybody in Kansas have one of these cars?
  23. Once again I thank everybody for your help. I took the Riv over to the tranny shop again and I told him to keep the car for however long it takes to get the tranny right. I have printed off all of the information that I was able to find and all of the posts here on the forum. He should have enough information to fix it. He is also going to check the speedo to see if it is the cable or just a faulty digital unit. I will keep everybody posted and I will keep my fingers crossed Thanks for your imput Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net
  24. I was taking the Riv back to the tranny shop today and the speedo was not working. It is the digital dash for speedometer and fuel. The fuel guage is working I think but the speed jumps from 0 to around 38 then back to 20 with in a few seconds. I think it most likely the digital part but could it be related to the tranny issues. Where is the pick up for speed. Thanks Chuck
  25. Looks just like the one I have for my 84 Riviera Convertible so I would guess it fits 82-85 Convertibles
