  1. Doesn't the sign in front of the Pontiac say "reserved for fast Eddie"? It kind of looks like where Eddie works, ahhhhh plays.
  2. HVS, I'm just a young pup. Back in the day, driving aircooled Vdubs we just carried a windshield scraper for the inside.
  3. Just bought some old car stuff yesterday. In the pile there are a few pieces of rectangular glass about 9X18 with 4 suction cups and a metal edge around the parimeter. They have 4 pieces of ni-chrome wire across the glass and a place to hook up a 2 prong wire plug. Are these old window defrosters?? Thanks
  4. Is it a rope seal? They make a seal tool, looks like a cork screw with a handle on it, McMaster-Carr has them. Or turn crank to rotate the seal out?
  5. Bob, I took your advise last weekend and went to a vintage race, the Hershey Hillclimb. There was a real Allard and Aston Martin DBR2 that seemed to be having as much fun as you described. I'm sure pics can be found on the hillclimb site. One would think pics would be on the benefit sponsor's site but they aren't.
  6. PWN, please explain the logic that "multiple club members" would use to watch a rare care be sold for $3500, obviously not knowing who the high bidder was. Why wouldn't they have bid what the car is really worth. That is if it was worth more then $3500.
  7. No caller ID, Bob? That would give his name and number.
  8. NUV, the SP2 is a very unusual and interesting VW indeed. You might try an ad on TheSamba.com, it's the best aircooled VW site there is.
  9. Tom, you probably won't feel the spark at the points. Only after the juice goes through the coil and heads to the spark plug does it have enough power to zap you. If you can see it jump the gap at the spark plug it should be enough to fire the engine. I've had to put points on my surface grinder to get a good clean area to make them work. Fileing or sanding doesn't always help points.
  10. Brian, good find. You just missed one of the best{even if it rained} antique MC shows this weekend at Oley, Pa. As was suggested, look into joining Antique Motorcycle Club of America ALSO, not instead of AACA. But before you touch a wrench to your Pierce do lots of research and talk to other Pierce owners. MC guys are WAY differant then car guys. The very last thing a MC guy will do is restore. An original bike is respected for what it is. If the bike can be left original it will be. The value of a restored as opposed to original MC will never pay for the chrome or nickel plating bill, let alone the paint, tires , spokes, etc. A correct MC restoration is more difficult then cars, because absolutely every nut and washer shows. Make it run and be proud. But it is yours, so do what you like.
  11. See some of the best motorcycles in the country at Oley, Pa. AMCA show this weekend. Perkiomen Chapter has this event every year at the Oley firehouse grounds just north of Reading, Pa. on route 73. 300+ parts vendor spaces. Yes, this a shameless plug!!
  12. Gee Bob, what were you doing in Lebanon, buying some Chow-Chow or shoe fly pie?
  13. Ok, the '04 Olds was high at $50,000. By my limited knowledge I'd say it was very original. And it went to England. The '09 Buick, also very original, didn't sell at $9600. The neatest car there was the '49 Austin convertible, sold for $11000. Said to be one of, I think,20 made, maybe 3 known to still exist. Model T depot was quite nice at about $6600? The 2 Caddys were older restorations, think they were about $40000ish. French fries were good, too.
  14. Yes. Some sold high, some were fair, some didn't reach reserve. Very!!
  15. Pa. doesn't have YOM plates, BUT any violaation of the statute makes you guilty in Pa. Out of date or no inspection, registration, insurance, no seat belt, etc. and the insurance does not have to pay. Just read some of the fine print on my policy last night and it scared me!!
  16. That didn't look like a prancing horse on the hood, but it sure is good looking.
  17. I've been advised that Restoration Supply has the mirror you need. They can be contacted at 1-800-306-7008 or at their site www.restorationstaff.com
  18. Wes, I talked to my neighbor and he got his at Snyder's as was suggested before. He too has a DB, a '17, and he took dimensions and a tracing of some else's seat and they were able to make the whole thing for him, very reasonable too.
  19. Thanks Hemiczar, I noticed it was posted on the BMC website, but not the museum site.
  20. Wes, my neighbor found a place that will make new springs. Let me check where it is.
  21. Bob, I still go to Carlisle for the ham and cheese. And the macadamia nut cookies. And the soft pretzels. The buddy I go to Carlisle with and I usually make a game out of looking for the most ridiculous priced item. Or counting '65 BB Corvettes, there's usually at least 5-10. Time was you could find real cars with real prices. Now they are mostly just puttied up junk.
  22. I have some old heads that were on a flathead Ford. But they say Made in England on them, you may not want them.
  23. From the use of the smiley, there should have been something humorous. More respect is in order unless of course that's Mike and Wayne.
  24. Sorry I started anything,Wayne, back to the topic. I bought the new issue tonight and did like the article complimenting Bill for his accomplishments. Does anyone know when the awards ceremony will be televised?
