  1. Rattea- I guess I could have been more specific . . . I thought the phrase "engine swap" would be a clue. If you need assistance with your computer, Ryan at www.gmtuners.com is known here for custom programming of computers and is very experienced at engine swaps for Reatta's and Fiero's.
  2. Rattea, There is great interest in this engine swap . . . those that have tried it seem to have been successful. Would you be willing to contribute a write-up of your experience? Plus photos if possible, please!?! Thanks in advance,
  3. Ditto all the fine comments made above!! We all appreciate your contributions to keeping our Reatta's on the road!!
  4. Jim, I too have sent you a private message . . .
  5. I don't care who you are, that there is funny!!!
  6. Reading the TargaTop thread reminded me of a question that I haven't seen addressed on the Forum . . . was there ever a hard top designed for the Reatta convertible? I guess I'd like to mirror the setup some Mercedes convertibles (as an example) which came with a hard top that might be installed during the winter months and removed and stored during nicer weather. Thanks for any thoughts, designs, pictures etc. I understand a Sawzall may be involved with building a hard top today, but I'm looking to complete this project in the next year or so and I want it to look "factory".
  7. Hi Bob, In your initial post, you mentioned that you have yet to drive a Reatta. I live less than an hour away from you and I would be more than happy to meet somewhere like Berkeley Springs so that you could spend some time inspecting and driving a '91. I would prefer we wait a week or so until the weather gets a little nicer Feel free to use the PM function on this forum or give my cell a call at (814) 44one - 479seven if you would like to get together. Jim (Nittany)
  8. Brenda, That's a gorgeous car!! Congratulations on finding your "forever Reatta", there is something special about a '91 vert!!
  9. Danc1989: if you follow the link that Ronnie provided, you'll see the price for the pressure switch thru the Reatta Store is identical to the price from Barney's link . . . Sometimes the price is lower at the Reatta Store but never higher. The reason many of us like to do business thru the Reatta Store is twofold. First, the part has been reviewed and evaluated for use in Reatta's. Secondly, there is a significant cost to Ronnie for software, web hosting, and maintenance for ReattaOwner.com. Earnings from the Reatta Store help offset those expenses for Ronnie. You should "bookmark" that site and spend some time there - you will find over a dozen years of helpful instructions written by Barney and many others for all kinds of repairs that anyone that owns a Reatta is likely to face at some point. I would encourage all visitors to this forum to take a look at the sticky at the top of the page entitled "Reatta Resources" . . . . it's time well spent! Good luck with your repairs to your 89 Reatta!! After you install the pressure switch it might be a good idea to look for and complete the Reatta Brake Test which can be found at www.reatta.net. Once you get your results, post them to your thread and someone will be able to further assist you.
  10. Mr. Pensive: I agree with the others that you have done a nice job with the repair and the write-up! May I suggest that it will be easier for others to see/find this tutorial if it could be set up as a new post? Thanks!
  11. Gorgeous car!! Congratulations on finding such a low mile car!!
  12. It sounds like this is one of those situations where some feedback on "Stocklifts" might help the next person avoid some headaches
  13. Welcome Ryan! We have heard of your work on this forum before, primarily your work with proms and/or chips that allow Reatta's to use higher performance engines while keeping existing gauges, transmissions and so forth! Ol' yeller mentioned Jim Finn might have one . . . Jim is one of the most knowledgeable parts suppliers that serves the Reatta owner and he maintains a good supply of parts cars. His preferred method of contact is email, and he can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com On the top of our main page http://forums.aaca.org/f116/ there is a Sticky entitled "Reatta Resources". You might want to visit this page as it does list some other parts suppliers as well as some outfit called www.gmtuners.com who apparently offers help with engine swaps:o haha Another suggestion mentioned above by Barney is probably a good one. If you want to follow-up on this idea but you're cable is broken or missing, I have a '91 vert and I'm willing to take measurements and/or "lend" you mine to have a cable manufactured. Good luck on your Reatta project! Hopefully the owner you're working for will allow you to post a summary of the engine swap.

    Pee Raid Time

This would be an example such as Barney described! I, too, would be very nervous to allow one large individual to be climbing in and out shaking hands and doing things that politicians do anywhere near my vehicle:rolleyes:
  15. Daniel, That looks awesome!! Nice paint work throughout the engine bay, just fricken' beautiful!!! Can't wait to read the write-up when you're all done!!!
  16. Barney, Did you know it was a Select 60 by the hood emblem or by checking the VIN?! Do you think the sellers have any idea?
  17. Preacher, The link below will take you to a company called ZZP. They have specialized in the 3800 engine (as well as a few other products you'll see) and they have also developed upgrades for transmissions that are connected to supercharged 3800's. You will have to work with them to fine tune their product for your purposes but they have the expertise to help you accomplish a heavy duty transmission capable of handling a 3800SC. Also, there is a forum member named John that has worked with a company to beef up his transmission. Hopefully he will chime in soon as he has done the upgrades to his vehicle that you are considering. http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/179-4t65e-HD-Upgrade-Kit.aspx
  18. Congrats Daniel!!! Looks amazing, can't wait to see the finished project!!

    tire sizes

FWIW: I highly recommend the Cooper CS4 touring tires . . . Very pleased with the handling and ride on the Reatta. I have also put these tires on a Cadillac STS and a Town & Country minivan. Last time I checked, Cooper was still manufacturing in the US for those of us who believe in supporting the "local" economy.
  20. Richard, Jim Finn was able to help me out with a similar need that I had a few years ago . . . his contact info is JFinn@CPInternet.com and his price was very reasonable!
  21. That is true on the coupes; however the convertibles use the 4x10's. Kevin, Congratulations on #4!! I'm sure you will enjoy the process of saving a rare '91 vert and I can't think of a better place for you to use some of your cache of spare parts!!
  22. Congratulations!!! I hope she brings you many smiles every time she takes you for a ride!!
  23. Congratulations!! May she bring you many smiles every time you look at and/or drive her!!
  24. AllisonY, Glad you took one more look here before calling the tow truck!! And, welcome to the forum, there's lots of good info here and at the Reatta Owners Journal as Machiner 55 (John) mentioned!
