  1. Is your friend the good looking dude holding the steering wheel? It's a Model A Dusenberg Chassis. The one that Jay Leno bought was a Model X Duesenberg. My Stutz supercharger came out of that garage too. Everything was purchased in the Chicago area during the 1930s and moved to California around 1950.
  2. This photo was linked on another website and I was wondering if anyone could identify the speedster/custom in the middle of the photo?
  3. That was a better restoration than most cars get!
  4. yes, that extra shifter next to the driver's seat is the 2 speed. This car has that feature which is a plus for sure.
  5. I was talking about all marques
  6. All 32 to 37 3 windows are very cool.
  7. The Marmon Club prints an annual registry that includes all known chassis numbers and their last known owner. As a side note, I have a friend who's granddad was Chief engineer of Marmon from 1927-1929. He formerly was the Chief Engineer at Lincoln. However in 1927 he was elected president of the SAE. Henry Ford didn't like that too much and called him into his office. The quote goes something like this " I understand you have two jobs now, which one do you want to keep?".
  8. I agree that 300k is right around the correct market for this car. Fully restored they are around 500k plus depending on the year & quality of the restoration. The later cars with the additional 2 speed may bring more money. An older restoration sold a couple of years ago for around 325k. The car at the Steven's estate sale which was very original although a bit worn sold for about the same price. I think that was 2005. Very cool car indeed. A "special roadster" version of this chassis that came out of eastern europe sold for 1.5 a few years back and was considered a bargain. Also, a Voll & Ruhrbreck body on this chassis won Pebble Beach back in 09
  9. I think you may need to provide more detail and pictures if you want any sort of useful responses.
  10. Is it built on a Tin-Lizzy chassis?
  11. Would love to see some pictures. It is your project of course, but if you have an exact replica then you have obviously spent some significant money. An engine from an 89 would very uninteresting in my mind. A couple of years ago there was a straight 8 from a Type 500 for sale. That would have been perfect. Not a 500k engine of course but MB and period appropriate. I would vote for a straight 8 overhead valve engine of 1930s vintage.

    1930 REO Flying Cloud

That is neat. A 5 window coupe can always find a good home.

    CCCA Future

Btw, if you showed up at either of those shows with a Dueseneberg you would have gotten the same cold shoulder. This has nothing to do with snobbery and everything to do with cliques and being part of them or not. Historically that is what most clubs have been. My perspective, which I've stated probably more than once so I will again is that the CCCA is worth the 65 bucks for the periodicals alone. I have never gotten a bad vibe at any event that I have been to. Not saying that it hasn't happened or that some regions might be cliquey but I just haven't seen it. I think at this point most regions are thrilled when they see new blood.
  14. Is it a rail car engine? I thought the 4 carbs were not original.
  15. I think it should sell without too much trouble. The best new owner is one who can do as much work on their own as possible. I would have had an l29 when they were cheap but the bias of Pops towards 812s was always hanging over my head. Very cool cars.

    CCCA Future

Bob, CCCA events are not open to the public. However, I believe members can bring guests. One nice thing about a CCCA show is you don't stand much guard duty if any. I'm sure we could start quite the thread on dumb stuff that people do to cars at car shows.
  17. Ed, that car has always been my favorite of the 6.
  18. Styling is obviously subjective (I like them both) and quality of construction is equivalent. Mechnically, the 540/500k is significantly more interesting.
  19. My personal opinion is the styling on the Lincoln is great but the V12 is a dog. People seem to love to drive the Cadillac. People hate to drive behind a Lincoln.
  20. There are probably 12 total in the United States and most are in very high end Museums. It would be interesting if there was an owner lurking on here but I would be surprised.
  21. Taken in the 60s based on the vette in the foreground.
