  1. New message from seller: The vehicle has the original rebuilt 426 Hemi engine. When it was rebuilt, the owner(smart man) removed the solid lifters and installed hydraulic lifters to make the vehicle more street friendly. Thanks for asking. Personally, I would have left the mechanical lifters. It is a sweet song. You just need to adjust them frequently.
  2. I doubt you are looking for appraisals but if the 356 Speedster is real, it is worth as much as all the other cars combined.

  4. Yes, the event has a new owner. As far as making it more affordable. I don't know how you do that without moving it somewhere else. The entire island is at 150% capacity for the weekend at the stupid prices that already exist.
  5. Delivered from the factory in 1932 as a Twin Six Coupe Roadster and verifiable as such. Numbers matching is a plus but not a deal breaker. Many eights were made in to 12s. Many coupes were made in to coupe roadsters. Although a real 32 Twin Six coupe would be a very desirable car.
  6. OK, besides the Fat Cat Ed who is going? Here is my ranking of annual car events in order of fun: 1. Hershey 2. Pebble 3. Amelia One is not like the others. You can do a week at Hershey for what it costs for entry in to either Pebble or Amelia. Both of those are still a lot of fun if not economically diverse. Multiple auctions which are great if you don't buy anything. The tour is on Thursday. Show is on Sunday. The downside to Amelia is that you are 20 square mile island so your options for lodging and food are limited and expensive. There are two ways on and off the island an you can get to Jacksonville in 45-50 minutes where the choices are greater and cheaper. The upside is that the weather is typically 70 degrees and sunny. Here in the peoples republic of Mass it was 5 degrees when I woke up this morning.
  7. The RROC is like the CCCA in that there is a wide demographic in the membership. You can buy a cheap running/driving RR and as long as you don't think you are going to restore it you will be fine.
  8. When I say "best" just my opinion. It will probably spark a lively debate. Those running boards were an option and I think you can toss them. It cleans up the lines quite a bit. I was looking for a 41 casually for a long time before I realized I should never buy another car.

  11. I always thought the full length console was a pretty cool feature. I assume this will bring 60% of the equivalent 68. Agree the radials don't look right.
  12. We have multiple threads on tires and tubes. I would search for them and read them. I have gotten tubes from England that were satisfactory.

  14. I don’t disagree. Nobody ever threw out a Corvette. My one issue with the same era vetts is that most of them seem to be automatics. While A healthy number of the trans ams and Z 28 had sticks.

Mine was a 68 in the same color, but an automatic which I had to sell to make mortgage payments once upon a time. I love the paperwork on this. Body style is not 68-70, but this is a nice car.   18. I would be interested to get the CCCA's side of this. I doubt they would sell their mailing list, although anyone that is a club member has access to the roster with people's mailing addresses.
  19. Looks like a decent car and we have been talking triple black Lincolns lately. I'm a bit put off by the hubcaps and the tint. It makes me wonder what else might be messed with.
  20. The LHD and RHD steering boxes are flipped and a different part number on a 500K/540K. I have a RHD if anybody wants to buy one to put their car back.
  21. This is a good suggestion assuming you plan ahead. If he's already mounted the tires... The newer tires are definitely bigger apples to apples.
  22. It is not really a stigma but a preference. For me, if a car came both ways I would prefer the LHD. Some cars came only one way. Isotta, Hispano, prewar Delayahe and Delage. If you want one of those, you go RHD and don't think about it. For some cars like Mercedes there is a discount for RHD because most of the market is Germany and the US. I was reading somewhere that in the early days of the RROC there was a premium on the RHD Rolls Royce as those were built in Derby and considered more "elite" than the Springfield cars. I don't know if they preference still exists in the Rolls world. I know post war LHD brings more money in the US.
  23. I second the motion on the cordless pump. My 18V will take forever but it will eventually fill the tire.
