Albert, Welcome to the Forum and the AACA... Olds442 spelled out the extinguisher specs well. You can pick one up at most Auto Parts stores, Hardware stores, too. Important: The first thing the judging team looks for is the extinguisher. If it is not visible, the rules state that one's car will not be judged. Normally, the Team Captain will ask you where the extinguisher is/do you have one? Just a suggestion...I make a check list of what to do when placing my vehicle (dust, open hood/trunk, windows up, etc. The first item on the check list is place the fire extinguisher in a visible place. drummerboy...Welcome and please post any questions you have. BillP, klb, and, Air Cooled did a good job explaining the AACA's requirements. The AACA welcomes all cars 25 years old minimum...you certainly qualify. Come to think of it, one does not even have to own a car to belong. Hopefully, you will disregard any negative comments mentioned in responses to your thread. They certainly do not represent the 63,000+ members, guaranteed. Wayne...just last Tuesday, I turned in a spent ink cartridge to our EDP gurus for a new one at work. Vin Lu started talking about how costly the cartridges are and how cheap the printers are in comparison. His mindset is the manufacturers make a killing on the cartridges and the printers are a disposable item. Just thought I would pass this on... Regards, Peter J...

I am quite certain you are aware that this is the Antique Automobile Club of America's website, of which, the sole purpose is the "preservation" of cars as they left the manufacturer. There must be many rod, custom, low-rider sites that could provide prompt answers to your query about lowering the front end. I highly doubt and can guarantee responses to rodding a car will end up in no results. Hope this helps in giving you direction to answering your quesion... Hi, Jake... It appears you are inquiring about what was knick named a "suicide knob". If I am reading this correctly, they were optional equipment sold by every aftermarket auto store one could imagine (i.e...Pep Boys, etc.) They were popular to a degree in the '50's - 60's. If I recall, they were either frowned upon, or, consider illegal by inspection laws. (May be wrong?) Possibility of over-steering, shirt cuff catching on it, 2 hands on the wheel urged, and, so on... You will find a miriad of posts on this subject. It has surfaced many times over the years. Ron Barnett and others, are very knowledgeable concerning bolts. Bob...thanks for starting the thread. As Bob mentioned, this is a great venue, especially, for Military Vehicle interests. The variety present every year is incredible. A good friend, Ron Flory, had his '60 Impala at the Car Show segment last year. The Chevy and other cars, as well, are placed around the Aircraft for great photo opportunities. Ron and Judy Flory gave the show segment high marks for a good time, not to mention, so many interesting Aircraft, Reenactments, Vintage WWII Aircraft, and, the Museum's Aircraft collection. Folks...thought I would post a reminder to get your trailer(s)ready for the meet/touring season. (Lube, Inspection, Lighting and Brake checks) I was sitting here thinking my cars are up-to-snuff when it dawned on me my trailer inspection expired in February. (Should anyone digress to the age old Trailer Queen subject, I attend 10-12 meets per year and tow to about 5 due to miles involved.) Hi, Jake... I believe many of us have been down that pike concerning judges. You have to remember, AACA Judges put a lot of time and expenditures out of their own pockets into doing the best job possible with "total fairness" in mind. They actually go out of their way to score a vehicle to the benefit of the owner. Granted, there will be times when human error enters the equation. In such cases, you, as a member, can write a letter to the VP of Class Judging, however, in my limited knowledge of these situations, I have never met anyone who had a judging decision reversed. This is not to say it has not happened, just in my experiences. I would advise that you contact the AACA Headquarters and purchase a "Judging Manual", which spells out all the rules, duties of judges, classes of vehicles...you name it. To anyone reading this thread, Howard Scotland's reply is an excellent case example of what is available to AACA Members in utilizing the Library & Research Center. Every media is available: Micro-film, hard & soft bound books, magazines, VCR, CD, and, too many resources to list. (Not to mention human voice.) Since our club's inception in 1935, thousands of members have donated an incredible amount of automotive data. Guaranteed, the material within the L&R Center is an under-utilized research tool at your disposal. The trend within cyberspace is naturally go to the web. Try simply using "your" club resources first. It may save you valuable time in that you will eliminate a miriad of confusing opinions relative to your query. Idle... You are not being petty. In reality, you are asking a darn good, over-due question, of which, benefits the "newbies" to the site. Steve, Janet, Terry Bond on-board, and, the Internet Committee as a whole, are working to update our site. The way I look at it, is, the site is going from infancy to the next level. Idle...hope all is well. Cannot answer for PeterG, however, I offer my input... Changes are on the horizon...this AACA website, as well as any other postition within the AACA from President-on-down the pecking order is "volunteer time". The Internet Committee is working hard, planning, and, so on, to revamp, and/or, improve this site.
