  1. Hello, Dr. Piazza... Enclosed with the May-June issue of "Antique Automobile Magazine" was the flier to mail in order to receive Hershey Registration forms/data. Your PIN Number is on the magazine mailing label. The deadline for Fall Hershey is "August 14, 2004". To expedite, the capable staff at National Headquarters could arrange to send the packet by phoning: 717-534-1910. As to obtaining your PIN Number, contact via e-mail: webmechanic@aaca.org. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  2. Dr. Piazza...Welcome to the AACA Forum. I met a few of the Staten Island members within the Wyndham parking lot as they were getting ready to hook up to unload. The pleasure was mine. Very dedicated folks. Please encourage involvement on this forum as well as everything the AACA has to offer. We are all here to assist eachother. Congratulations to your Region's success at the AGNM. From what I saw of their enthusiasm, it comes at no surprise. What impressed me the most, were the young people that made the trip. Regards, Peter J.
  3. Hello, Ted... Moved by my judgement call. You have to realize some evenings there are a ton of posts to check that they are within the proper, and, well advertised section on the main page. Other nights, there are practically nil. The "worth" reference generates a "gray area", made a call, and, moved it. It is going back to the General Forum by popular demand. Regards, Peter J.
  4. Hi, Howard... I was reading your response to Heather and a bell went off concerning your input about Marine Engines. May be relative to the below info for Heather. Heather, for "what it is worth"... I have been in the foundry/machining business for 32 years. Years ago, we had a customer, OSCO Motors in Hatfield, PA, who specializes in all sorts of marine exhaust manifolds, risers, etc. These castings are not for the faint of heart foundry. My company tried for 2 years and failed miserably to produce them. Very intricate cores (some 3 feet in length X 1/2 inch thick.) Getting to the point: At that time, only 2 foundries specialized in these castings. Sterling Foundry and Decatur Foundry. I offer 2 leads, of which, hopefully, can give you direction: Sterling Foundry, Wellington, Ohio. --Est. 1922 --Grey iron, ductile iron, Ni-hard, etc.) --Bob Blakely, Sales Manager, or, Nancy Frye, Customer Service --800-803-8842, or, 440-647-3431 --Clincher: I heard they went out of business, however, sometimes certain people continue a business by "farming out" work their defunct facilities produced. May be worth a phone call. OSCO Motors --Tom Cooper, President --Specialize in supplying all sorts of Marine parts/products, and, specialize in devilish marine manifold/riser castings. --www.go2marine.com/main.jsp --Tom is a very nice person and very knowledgeable. Keep us posted on this query. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  5. JFA...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Your post is in the Forum Questions area, of which, is for navigating queries. Please take a look at the Forum Topics. You could post your question within Tech Questions, (scroll down on the Main Page) and post within the "Buick" Forum. The "Buy/Sell Section" may be your best bet. I am moving your thread to the Tech Questions. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  6. Tommy...Great post. You said it all. My experiences you echoed, except one. Communicated via this Forum for a few years with Pat Thorpe (ex98thdrill). Condensed: Pat and his father, Nelson, invited me to see their restored and in the the process of restoration vehicles on my return to Reading, PA. I did. All I can say is super hospitality. Went out of their way to give me a tour of their projects, to include a fire truck at the Bloomfield Fire Company. Not the end just yet!! We drove over to one Roger Hawkins residence for a tour of his facilities. When I left, all I thought of is the hospitality exerted in my direction of the Lake Erie Region, the Thorpe family, and, Roger Hawkins. An AGNM and 2 Museum calibre automotive displays within 2 days was great. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
  7. Hugo...Welcome to the AACA Forum! Rick Hoover is our resident tyre source, of whom, will offer the best advise. I will ring his doorbell via e-mail. Regards, Peter J.
  8. Hi, Tom... Correct, to a degree, there is a show on July 18th. It is not an AACA "National Meet". It is the 56th Annual Lake Forest Antique Auto Show sponsored by the AACA Illinois Region. (If you go to the left column and click on Anique Automobile Club of America, scroll down and click on Regions & Chapters. When the map of the U.S. appears, click on "Illinois". All of the AACA affiliated Regions and Chapters shows. Scroll down to Illinois Region and their website appears. Anyway, it is held at Deerpath School (Deerpath Road East of Rt. 41) in Lake Forest, Il. Contact: Bob Grutza (847-604-9259), or, bgrutza@gmsales.com. Regards, Peter J.
  9. 62series...echoing Sal, Welcome to the Forum. Suggestions: --Leave this post here. I will be moving it to the Tech Questions area shortly. --In the immediate left column, you will see in red print the Antique Automobile Club of America. Click on it, then, scroll down to Library & Research Center. Click on it. There is a wealth of information retained at the L&RC right up your alley. --Also, scroll down on the main menu of topics (near the bottom) and you could post it within the "GM Products title: Cadillac and LaSalle". Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  10. Woody, great job of assisting a hobbyist. That's the spirit! Joe. I believe the re-boning subject came up some years ago. At the top of this page, click on "Search" and check it out. Self explanatory. Regards, Peter J.
  11. Hi, Earl...look forward, as usual, to seeing you and Judy. Unfortunately, Wayne phoned me on my cell today that he is going to cancel out. Has too much paperwork, billing, etc., to do. Darn it...I was all pumped up to keep him out of trouble, now this. Oh well, I am quite certain there will be more challenges with him. A good friend, Mike Crown ('66 Mystery Chevelle on the forum) will be there, too. Folks, do yourself a favor and make a point of seeing Mike's Chevelle. Talk about a pristine car, this is it. Olds 442...will be nice to meet you and have conversation since Hagerstown. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  12. Lou...Welcome to the AACA Forum. In addition to receiving comments here, you should check out the AACA Library & Research Center. The Library retains an enormous amount of information. Go to the AACA main page, in the left column click on Library. There is a self-explanatory form to submit. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  13. Hello, jasaflower...Welcome to the AACA Forum. By all means, please stay tuned and involved. Collectively, all of us are here to assist eachother. New members to our forum require guidance to navigate, so, bookreader's post, I assume, was directed at "regular forum participants" that, either, do not know how to take advantage of our club's noted services, or, some that take a short cut. A phone call is not necessary. Look at the immediate left column, click on Antique Automobile Club of America, click on AACA Library, click on Research Request Form...the rest is explanatory. There is a charge, however, should you not receive satisfactory, if any, assistance on the internet, the nominal fee may be well worth the cost. I have a 1972 Triumph TR-6 (original owner). To obtain build records from the British Motor Heritage, it cost me $40.00, so, this subject is relative. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  14. Hi, Mike...By all means, Welcome to the AACA Forum. I personally know Mike and to all you DF'ers out there, he is one very interesting man. He is a car guy, tried-and-true, involved with the AACA Youth Program, and, an asset for our club's future. Again, welcome aboard, Mike. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
  15. Sllring... Please submit the make, model, and, year of your vehicle. Regards, Peter J.
  16. Ron...I agree, as posted above, with Pat's concept, and, it should be studied. Good points you made. I do not see anywhere where I suggested "..that since a CJE cannot reach All judges is a sad excuse to deny the opportunity for the rest". Just what I experienced should a Power Point user have to insert data, which, would obviously not be the case as I have been informed. Power Point is a great tool. No doubt about it. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  17. Hi, Bill, nice to hear from you...thanks for your input. Your suggestions would be the route to go. My only concern is if a judge must "fill in the blanks" to questions, or, any other iotas. Not certain one can edit a document, Power Point in this case, if it is downloaded. I really don't know. Regards, Peter J.
  18. Hi, Pat... I think you have a very interesting concept. Power Point is a great tool, I must agree. As I mentioned above, my concern, based on my history presentation, is free-space in the hard drive & even if it is on a CD, one must still have Power Point programs loaded. (I may be wrong, but, one could download Power Point to open the CD file as a "read only". They would not be able to edit/insert comments, just read the CD data.) Let's see if any others have opinions. You turned 36 at Hagerstwon??...darn. I could have bought you a fishbowl glass of spring water in lieu of beer. Still on target to visit you folks on the way home Sunday. Regards, Peter J.
  19. Hi, Pat... Interesting thought you have. My only thoughts are on first-hand experience with Power Point. I have used it for presentations to customers, reports to my management, and, so on. Last year, I made 9 historical presentations on my home town of Mt. Penn's centennial. Many residents wanted a copy (VCR, CD). Found out quickly that if the recipient's computer is functional, however, of an older model, Power Point will not open if they do not have Office. Also, how much free space on their older computer. Granted, my 243 photo Power Point presentation is huge, but, they the user must have access. Thoughts? See you and Nelson next week... Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  20. Kathi...Welcome to the AACA Forum. My thoughts are leave this post here, scroll down the Menu Page to near the bottom. Post the same query within the Cadillac and La Salle Club. Should you receive unsatisfactory information, go to the Antique Automobile Club of America in the Main Page, scroll down to the Library & Research Center. There is a self-explanatory form to submit. The L&RC retains extensive information with a staff that is great. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  21. Sal, hope all is well... Please take a good look at the changes already in place within a short period of time. This AACA thing is nothing more, nothing less than a "club". Rather large club, but, a club of members with one theme: "Preservation of Motor Driven Vehicles, 1979 & earlier, as they left the factory". Unlike a football game (One side rooting for their team "only") we have to help fellow club members with at times, complexitites of old car restorations, maintenance, pass on experiences to our youth, I do not have to tell you this. The torch has been passed, praise to the founders in 1935, the Presidents & Boards in between, and, we go onward. No organization could have, will have lasted so long with the "ME", "Why not ME" approach...change takes time to assure what all of us are doing within the hobby benefits the next generation, friend. Regards, Peter J.
  22. You bet, Ed... Kim Miller & Staff at the L&RC are very proficient and detail oriented. Please remain involved with the Forum as there are members with many varied skills/knowledge contributing on a regular basis. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  23. Ed...Welcome to the AACA Forum. You may want to go to the AACA Main Page, scroll down in the left column to Library & Research Center. Instructions are clear on how to submit your query to the L&RC. The club retains an enormous amount of research data, and, hopefully, answers to your queries. Regards, Peter J. Heizmann <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  24. kenette...Welcome to the AACA Forum. You may want to post in the Buy/Sell section for exposure to obtain a value. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  25. Hi, Stephen...interesting. Our Pattern Shop Manager at the Wrightsville Facility has about 14 cars in his stable. Of note: A 1971 Corvette with less than 1100 miles. He has it in an atmospherically controlled room, once per year starts it for a few minutes, and, that's it.)
