  1. Were you a weatherman in a previous life??? Had a good time, great cars, great people and great food. Good job to all. Looking forward to next year--should be great!!!!
  2. I've used tooth paste to polish plastic, I used it to clean and polish a plastic sign years ago and it worked. It takes some rubbing.
  3. Web search DynaBeads to see how they work. I'm happy with the way they worked in my 550-18 tires. We removed the valve stem in the tube and installed them thru a plastic tube out of a bottle per the mfg. instructions. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. If you static balance a tire, it can still be out of balance dynamically Where I worked we balanced flywheels up to over 20,000 lbs. on a dynamic balancer, eliminated wobble, vibration and bearings lasted a lot longer.
  4. Heard from the people in Canada, he said he hadn't received my other two messages. I'll send them full scale drawings for a quote and let everyone know what I find out.
  5. You could replace it with a new one that looks original , but has a new oil filter hidden inside.
  6. Just curious if your tires were balanced? I used balance beads in my Lester tires and it seems to work. Has anyone else used this method? I was told the truckers have used golf balls in tires to balance them!!
  7. 40 psi in the front and 35 psi in the back tires as in the 1930 Chrysler model 70 manual. 550-18 tires.
  8. I had the same fitting problem with my spring isolators from Steele Rubber, used a die grinder with a sanding disc to fit each one. I've sent the company in Canada a couple od messages and haven't received an answer back from them yet. I'll try again later this week. Getting car ready for Auburn and the Grand National in PA.
  9. I took a group of old car guys on a tour of Auto Books in Piqua, Ohio and we couldn't believe the amount of original manuals and books he had for older cars. I'm talking about tons & tons of them. If your looking for anything from 1932 up, look up the web site and give Adam a call. We had a great time. West Peterson--you missed a good one!
  10. At Hershey there was a vendor, and on line, called the Handle Man. If you can locate him he might have what you need, He had a hay wagon with box's full of old handles years ago.
  11. I was in a Jag dealership in Bangkok in1969---was asked to leave because they knew we were military!!! ( And we were sitting in the cars!!!)
  12. Thanks for the pictures! The steering column is above the clutch/brake pedal shafts on the model 70. Doe's give me an idea as to what they should look like though.
  13. Thanks Spinneyhill! I now have prints drawn up and will make a template to check the fit. I will contact the people you list and see what they have to say. Doesn't look like the model 66 plates would fit. I did forget that the steering column was adjustable and the hole for it should be elongated.
  14. Model 70 with a 4 speed transmission. I'm considering talking to a local pattern shop to have a mold made so I can make castings... Would like to see tracings of yours!! Would be great help.
  15. Just got off phone with Steele Rubber engineering! They will change their listings so people do not order wrong parts. I will send my measurements to the engineer and he will search for proper fitting parts. He said it would cost prohibitive to redesign and manufacture the correct parts. ( I understand that ) A man in Florida called the other night and said he has a car with the original floor plates in it, I forgot his name but need him to call me if he has photo's and maybe part numbers for these PLEASE!!!! I won't give up yet!
  16. They said they weren't going to change anything. I advised them that the parts and drawings on their site do not fit the 1930 Chrysler cars that they show they fit. Offered to mark up prints for them so they could correct their drawings. So far no luck. I realize that they can not make everything, but the parts they list do not fit.... Doe's anyone else make rubber parts for old Chryslers???
  17. Will be happy to. The ones they have do not come close to fitting. Waiting on a call from them right now to discuss the drawings. When things are ironed out--I will share...
  18. Just got off phone with Steele Rubber. They are sending me complete detailed prints with "all" the measurements marked. I will be able to measure the pedals and shafts to make sure they will fit and will post what I find out. She didn't know if the plates had been updated when I sent them prints a couple years ago.( But they didn't fit then!) Keep fingers crossed...
  19. I agree and am willing to pay a good price for a proper fitting part, I had to send some back that I was told would work. I'm used to working with mechanical drawing and would like to compare theirs with the car. I too own rare prints and was happy to get them. I have an original large poster from a 1930 dealership advertising the engine change from a 218.6 to the larger engine, one company wanted to "borrow" it to reproduce, I said no. I hired an artist to draw my cars side by side a few years ago, that was great! You have to enjoy the hobby and the people!
  20. I've sent a message to the company, I sent them detailed prints of what would fit our cars and haven't heard back yet. I ordered a set about two years ago and had to return them. Would still like to get a set that would fit our car. I'll post when/if I hear back from them. Would be worth the cost if they fit and look good!
  21. Has anyone ordered the floor plates ( fit on floor around the clutch/brake pedals and steering column--other around gear shift and emergency brake handle ) from Steele Rubber? Did they fit if you did? Does anyone else produce them?
  22. Atwater Kent sells coils of this type. 1930 Chryslers used the dash mounted coil with ignition switch attached to the coil.
  23. I found a parts kit that I bought years ago and was lost in my spare parts cabinet. I had a couple needles and seats reproduced a couple years ago. All the gaskets were put in my scanner and then gasket was placed in the paper drawer, copied them perfectly on the gasket. The seals will be measured and ordered from a company in California. So I'll be getting another kit in my storage cabinet for back up!
