  1. Chev and Buick use the same fuel pump gasket, so It should work with no problem.

  3. If you can't find one from a Riv, you can purchase one from any Hot Rod Shop.
  4. I bought a YnZ harness for my 40 56C back in the 70s and my 17 year old son installed ir in two evenings after school. I have since driven the car over 90,000 miles and have not had one electrical failure except for a generator ,which was not the fault of the harness. I have used their harnesses exclusively since then, andthey are VERY GOOD!!!
  5. If the "long time member" were to check ,I am sure he would realize that if the board from the last few years hadn't stepped in ,the BCA would be insolvent by now. You cannot spend more that you get for long before it causes REAl problems ,and that is what was happening. The board (which receives no compensation)is trying to bring the BCA back to a solid financial base and is working diligently for us . I,for one am thankful that they are doing what has to be done ,even if some people are too blind to see that this organization was in serious trouble
  6. I forgot to add that the rockers for your engine have a better ratio than the later ons ,so stay with what you have
  7. Most of the comp cams are ground for chevys ,and the profile is wrong for a Buick. Check with TA performance or Poston for the straight scoop on 430-455 cams.
  8. Unless you are going to show the car, you can go to the local muffler shop and they will put a system on that will work for less money ,and you dont have to fight the old one off and the new one on
  9. In actuality there were 3 concept cars built with this body. The third was the Pontiac Banshee. It was an exercise done by the three marques and it appears that Chevy won , because the built the Vette!
  10. Your starter has the wrong solenoid . The third wire is to supply 12V to the coil while cranking. without this wire you have no juice to the points when the starter is engaged
  11. The statement was made" just find the place that has the best turn out ,and have the meet there every year" . the first three meets were in Flint in 71=72=73 and even though they were realtively small by todays standards it put such a strain on the host chapter that there was no 74 national meet. The meets in Flint in 78 and 88 were probably the largest meets we had, and 2003 will be the best ever from a participation standpoint. I have driven a Buick to every National and truly believe that there are members who will come no matter where the meet is held. More and more of the cars come in trailers , so that should not pose a problem with a large portion of the participants, and with the BDE promoting the driving of the Buicks ,you will also see more being driven . If you want a meet in your area , step up to the plate and volunteer to put it on . There are too many members that want things done as long as someone else does them. These people are getting tired and need help !! If you want something done O IT
  12. I believe the reason there is no refernce is that it is supposedly a slip on unit. If you have the bolt removed ,I would tap LIGHTLY on the balancer and see if it doesn't pop off
  13. I noticed in reading the information sheet on the car that it states it is supercharged. The person making out the card must have confused it with the XP-300 which is supercharged. The Wildcat II has 4 side draft carbs ( I believe they are the same as the ones used on the 53-54 Vette with the inline 6 ).The car was just refurbished by the Sloan Museum and it now is in running order. I worked on the carbs to synchronize them and in return was allowed to drive it into the building
  14. I just got home ,as I was one of the group that toured NewYork after the meet. I think that it was suggested at the meeting on Sunday that the webmaster( Roberta) set up a time for all the people who are on this DF to meet. I Think the only one I met was Yellowlark, and I was there for four days. I had my Sequoia Cream 40 Super Convert (The one with the twin spots ,fender skirts and dual exhaust) I still haven't grown up .
  15. When you register for the show, they have numerous tours and places of interest you can sign up to see. If you are bringing a Buick to the meet you must pre=register as they have limited space for the cars. There are seminars for judging, tech advice ,and meetings of the various divisions in the BCA. All in all you are kepy quite busy as they also have a big swap meet and a car corral with for sale vehicles.
  16. The positive coil wire is only 8 volts and is not powered when you crank the engine. That is why you have the extra wire from the solenoid. The best way to find a switched 12V wire is to go to the fuse block and run one from the switched side of the block.
  17. Why not recurve your later distributor? The 67 was good ,but it didn't have optimal timing. You can get a curve kit with a brass bushing to set max centrifugal and different weights and springs to set the rate of advance. they also make an adjustable vacuum advance so you get set the rate and amount of vacuum advance .
  18. There is a possibility that you have a worn bushing in the distributor that is giving you a fluctuation in the timing. I am driving from the Flint area with my 40 Buick Super Convert and it has run over 90,000 miles since I got it and like a Timex ,it takes a licking and keeps on ticking!!
  19. I just reread your post ,and apologize for saying "check the plugs" . It is hard to believe that they will arc through unless there is something boosting the voltage considerably
  20. Are the wires arcing through the insulation to the block? If this is the case,it is easier for the juice to go through the insulation than fire the plug. Have you looked at the plugs recently? They could be the culprit.
  21. As a rule ,the flea market and car corral are available without pre registration. The cars must be pre registered to allow them to leave space for them on the show field.
  22. The 38 Buick has a 5 0n 5 pattern. There are many wheels that will fit that pattern ,but not too many with a large enough center hole. You can enlarge the center hole on most wheels to fit the bolt pattern ,but if you are looking for after market wheels ,you may have to do some modifying to the hubs. Buick wheels up through 58 eill fit if you pull thepilot pin,as the later wheels don't have a hole for it. You can also drill a pilot hole in the late wheels.
  23. The ROL catalog does not list header gaskets for a 455 Buick. I talked to them on the Hot Rod Power Tour and they said they were not available. They don't have any Buick gaskets.
  24. I have a can of the old fibrous wheel bearing grease and it seems to hold up very well. I pack the bearings when I do the brakes and forget about them
  25. I have had a set of Kenne-Belle headers on my72 GS for 6 0r 7 years and the only problem I have experienced is that will occasionally loosen up . That means a blown gasket ,so you put in new gaskets ,and you are good to go
