1. I have two upper ball jointe . If you are interested let me know. I am asking $200 apiece.

buickjoet@aol.com
2. Changing to a T-10 wont't change a thing. It is 1-1 in high gear just like your three speed tranny. You will either have to install an overdrive trans or change the rear end ratio to cut the rpm on the highway
3. If you use a depth guage to measure the depth of the counterbores in the head and intake and add the two together ,that will give you the thickness for the pilot.then you can grind the pilot to that thickness and it should work fine.
4. I have a 200-R4 in my 72 and if you want a lock up convertor, use a corvette and get the lock up kit from TCI .It works GREAT!!
5. Gas prices are back to the $1.75 - $1.85 range for the most part. There may be an isolated case of gouging ,but you can find fuel at the prices above almost anywhere.
6. Prices in Michigan flared to $5.00 per gallon .but the governor stepped in and the prices dropped back to $1.87. That is still .20 more than it was Monday ,but we can live with that.
7. I can't imagine why you would remove an overdrive with a lock up converter for a TH400 .I just switched my TH400 for a 200-4R .the one wire for the TH400 is for the down shift which was done with a cable on your 200.One of the wires for the 200 is for the converter and I am not sure what the other was .
8. As a tech advisor for engines and drive lines for numerous years, I receive on the average,6-10 requests for info per week. I have a complete set of shop manuals from 1931 to 1980 and am able to answer most of the questions. You are absolutely right though ,because this forum has a wealth of knowledge and I can't believe that someone on the DF won't have an answer to any question asked.
9. I should have looked closer!! The top grille is Die cast metal, and the lower is plastic. I'm sorry I did not check it out completely.
10. The 39 has the turn signal on the trunk ,so if some one has spliced the two wires into the one filament ,you have some wiring to do.
Good Luck
11. I have my cars insured through Hagerty and they said " we know you are going to drive them ,but you only drive one at a time so we do not care how many miles you put on . I have dirven my 37 8,000 ,my 40 2,000 ,my 57 5,000 and my 72 2,000 this summer and no one has ever asked for oddometer checks.
12. As a usual rule ,when your lights dim with an added load ,you have a ground problem. I would take the lens off and using a jumper to a good ground, see what happens. I would almost bet it will cure your problem.
13. The 73 Electra had a plastic grill
14. The 51 book says the same thing and it just can not work like that!! The oil to the overhead is metered by the fitting in the head, and there is no way enough oil can be fed to the overhead to feed the lifters.most engines with hydraulic lifters have a passage that feeds the lifter. I have not had a hydrauliclifter engine apart in 20 years ,and I just don't remember. The push rods are hollow and have no holes on either end ,so the oil can not flow down them.
15. If you can find a special or Century with a stick set up ,you can bolt it right in. You do not have to change the rear end unless you are unhappy with the ratio, The 54 -55 and 56 stick trannies will all interchange
16. 37 model 46 coupe 455/400 th Mustang2 suspension 2.56 Camaro rear axle
40 Model 56c Sequoia cream ,tan top -owned for 30 years and driven over 94,000 miles
57Special 2dr hd top body on 72 Electra chassis--looks stock
72 GS455 convert .030 over 455 with many mods driving a 200-4R trans. 12.80s and 17+MPG
91 Park Ave. ultra(Momma's ride)
17. The only additive I use is "engine oil supplement" put out by GM. It has anti scuffing additives for engine break in. The rest are "snake oil "
18. I still have the 62,but it is not drivable anymore. The drive shaft and the under hood wiring are both gone. if you are interested, let me know as I am preparing to disassemble it for parts. My e-mail is:buickjoet@aol.com
I will make you a good deal as I would just as soon not have to take it apart
Joe Taubitz
19. If you are serious about changing to R-134A ,you should also change hoses. The new barrier hoses are lined with a material impervious to the gas. the new stuff will seep through the old hoses. This means you will be adding refrigerant every year
20. I have a Howe radiator in my 57 and it works great! I also installed Classic Auto AC as they have a unit that fits in the trunk and you dont have to remove the original heater -defrosterunit. My wife likes it because the air doesn't blow directly on you ,but comes over the top and it becimes a breeze off the windshield. classic Auto Air is located in Tampa
21. Jim, the generally accepted version ,is the one you stated. The small valves gave it the name. It also made them almost unbreakable, as they couldn't turn enough RPM to hurt them.
22. BOB, I have a pile of them out in the barn. Iwill check to see how many and give you a call
23. The 322,364,and 401 have different distances between the heads. The manifolds will not interchange. The 401 and 425 have the same distance between heads and these manifolds will interchange. The six carb log intakes will fit on any engine because they usually have tube connectors that can be modified to fit all widths. I am not sure about these measurements ,but I think the distance between bolt holes on the heads are: 322-81/4 ,364-83/4, 401-425-91/4
24. If the front end is stock ,there isn't much you can do except put on the drum brakes from a big series. Fatman Fabrications has front end parts if you want to change the whole front suspension.
25. In our area ,the only game in town was AACA back in the 60s. It was a good organization and had a fairly large membership. We now have a BCA chapter,Chevy club, and numerous "cruising" groups. The AACA chapter has been taken over by a small group that runs it for themselves. They have even rejected applicants for membership because thay do not fit their criteria. It is a shame that this has happened ,but unless the National AACA steps in this region will always be a bummer.
