1. A new one from TA Performance is $300+ so if yours is good ,it should be worth $150. I have sold them for $100 for two years ,and I was selling them to friends, so they were cheap.
2. I have had some success with leaky rear seals by pulling the rear cap ,driving one or two pieces of wire between the block and seal ,putting some hemp rope between the seal and cap ,and reinstalling the cap .This might sound unorthodox ,but it pushes the seal in closer contact with the crank ,and seems to work.
3. Thank you to all who replied.
I posted on different boards and found everything I need
4. Can someone please tell me the cubic inch displacement of the 1933 lincoln KB series V-12 ???
Thank you
5. Does anyone know the cubic inch displacement of the 1933 Packard twin six, the Lincoln KB
series V-12,and the biggest engine Cunningham offered in 1933 ???
I was told they were all over 440 CID and I would like to know just how big they were.
Thank you
6. I have been told that the 1933 packard twin six ,the lincoln KB series V-12, and the Cunningham all had engines over 440 cubic inch displacement. Can any one help me with the size of these engines??
7. Unless someone has changed the engine in your 69 ,it is a 430. Nevertheless, the Edelbrock performer is a good manifold and you stock Q-jet should work just fine. You may want to jet it up .002 ,but try it like it is first.

Hey Skyhawk !!! Dont let them hammer on you too much, I'm 68 and my GS runs 13 flat at 105 and my 455 powered 37 Buick has been to 130 and I ran out of intestinal fortitude
9. I'm glad it worked out for you. The rope seals a really a pain!

Wanted

What year 401? The 64 up took a different trans and was not interchangable with the earlier 401s. The back of the crank was different. I have a 62 401 with a 4 BBL carb that runs well. the trans has no reverse. I am asking $300 for the unit
buickjoet@aol.com
11. I had a hot start problem in my 455 powered 37 ,and I talked to a friend that ran a starter repair shop and he said it was the replacement solenoids available. He had an old american made unit I installed ,and the problem was solved. I think there are still some HD units available ,so you might check your parts house.
12. C'mon Berta ,you know the B4B is a dual plane
13. NAPA or any good parts store should be able to get one for you
14. Change the filter before you do anything. it sounds like the filter is not letting enough fuel through
15. There should also be a sheet metal oil slinger that slips over the crank hub to deflect oil from the seal area
16. The seal is held in by a sheet metal stamping that presses in the housing behind the seal. If you do not have this piece, you can install a neoprene seal. The front seal number is:National 450446
17. The last year for the torque tube was 1960. You will have to mount a rear end . the easiest way out is a late 60s -early 70s with a 4 link set up
18. The heads were not the only thing that changed the compression. The pistons had a deeper dish than the 70 pistons which was a good part of the lower compression. You can purchase the higher compression pistons from TA performance or Poston Enterprises
19. I guess I should qualify my statement. I have made money buying and selling old cars, but only by doing minimal work on them. if you buy an antique auto reasonably ,because it wont run or has been stored for a long time , and clean it up and make it run, you caN DO QUITE WELL. If you restore one from the frame up , even if you do most of the work yourself , you will make ,maybe, fifty cents an hour. The question you have to answer when doing an old car is "am I doing it because I want it or to make a buck" . That should decide your course of action.
20. I was told that the 53-54 vettes had the chevy 261 truck engine with a different cam and side draft carbs.
21. Another option is a step up transformer. I have used one in my 40 Buick for years. I mounted a 12 volt radio and a CB in the glove box and drive them both with a 6 to 12 volt inverter. It works just fine.
22. The only person that makes money on a restoration is the guy that owns the restoration shop! if you buy a car to restore and expect to make a buck , you are in the wrong hobby
23. It sounds to me that you have two problems. You have a dead cylinder which if the engine has miles on it ,is probably a burned valve. The second problem is more than likely an accelerator pump that is not doing the job. With the air cleaner off, look in the top of the carb and push the throttle linkage . If there is not a good squirt of fuel then you pump is not functioning.
24. I have known Bob formany years and he has been a very reliable source of bith perts and information. he is especially knowledgable about the early Buicks ,and that is a rarity these days.
Joe Taubitz
BCA 1308
