  1. Franklin offered 2 different maker 4 speeds in the same gearing. You could walk next to it in low.
  2. Good deal. Electrical has always been my weak point and most of that is caused by self induced frustration of not being able to see the problem easy. (I>E> leaky wheel cylinder) But since I found the AACA and have been able to garner the help of so much experience from many many fine folks I find myself less frustrated and more confident in working on electrical and ignition issues. I am glad you worked the problem out. What a great feeling of success that must be !
  3. Can I ask what that cable actuated mechanism is on the exhaust manifold? I am guessing the lever device on the thermostat is to open the front louvers?
  4. If you haven't seen 6 Underground and the chase that starts the movie you'll love it and it seems to last for 25% of the movie. Granted much more gory and horrific but you can tell the director took some of what you described from other great chases and incorporated them into his movie. Lots of cringing and "Oh that hurt" moments.
  5. They keep saying the Bullitt chase was the best ever but the chase in the French Connection was better and today there is a netflix movie out called "6 underground" that has an ever better and longer car chase then any of them all through the narrow roads and alley's of Italy.
  6. I was reading up on adjusting the 3rd brush but I never intend to tour the car just like to drive it so going back and forth with the 3rd brush is not something I would like to fool with. I have just received a set of LED headlight bulbs that I have yet to install that I hope live up to the claims. When I got the car I changed out the existing bulbs (one was out) with a set of new ones and polished the reflectors but have not had the car out at night yet due to other issues stated on the other thread. The goal is lower the amp draw for another set of driving lights OR increase the available amps to a consistent rate.
  7. Just a more stable rate of charging for added lights I would need for night driving. In the summer months here we do a lot of night driving. Plus I would like to add a 6 volt fan for cooling and would need a few more amps.
  8. Does anyone make a kit for the conversion? Bracket, 6V positive ground 1 wire..
  9. To rechrome that waterfall must be the price of the car
  10. Well here we are. Everything ready to go once I get the exhaust tied back up. Leaving vacuum advance off for now. Made a new hand throttle cable as well. After things get running well I start to replace the fuel lines back to steel. What size are they so I can get a roll of tubing ?
  11. Well after a set back thanks to the flu I grabbed a couple parts from the garage to work on inside. I re-torqued the manifold bolts as well to be sure after they now sat for a week. Will do again after she runs up to temp which will hopefully be very soon this weekend. So today I brought in the air cleaner to see about getting it back to where it should be to work with the DRT-08. It seems they had put in 3 different shims inside it to fit the wrong carb throat intake and tac welded it. These shims all have a number 64 stamped in them and look like some over the counter part. Must have been in a long time. Love undoing wrong crap. The more I repair the "make do" repairs from decades past on the fuel supply side the more things I see that could be causing the lack of power issue I felt on hills. Thanks to Tom and his exhaust piece maybe I can get her back together for our near 70 degree Sunday coming up !
  12. You kidding? Mom knew everything I did wrong 5 blocks over quicker then I could make up a story
  13. Man I had one of those and she showed up at our 20th reunion and I kindly let her know what she was and how many dreams she crushed of people back then. That she could not take a dirt nap soon enough. Oddly she did die some 2 years later and was buried 7 spaces over from my parents so when I go see the folks to have a beer and discuss life's issues I also stop and ask her if it's hot enough where she went. She was that nasty of a hag.
  14. Who is running it into the ground by asking for some detailed pic's concerning area's that are prone to problems ? And there are many ways to deal with wood framing but for some people it is way out of their abilities to take it on so wanting to know condition of the wood is an important factor to them. I like the looks of the car too but am not ready to take on an intense wood renewal project. So I would like to know the condition myself.
  15. I just need to whack off about 10 inches max on the repair as I have the length, just no flange. Unless you think the bend would be better? What say you?
  16. Thank You! I am thinking I can make the straight one work with a coupling Let me know what i owe you. Chris Richard 8299 Hutcheson Hill Road Springtown, TX, 76082
  17. Is it really true about what they say about 1973 cars rotting out faster due to a change in the sheet metal being used?
  18. Got it. So bring lower clamp with me as it is larger then 1 1/2 ".
  19. I never looked at the hobby as only driving an old car from late April to mid September. What do you do the other half of the year? hence a beater or two. Cheap and no worries about what happens to it. Make sure the heater works and have at it. Fluid drive cars are excellent in the snow.
