  1. I can play a jaw harp pretty good. No, we will not play deliverance.
  2. That fluid drive unit can be a royal PITA being leaky. Can you still get the main seal rebuild kit? The graphite ring? I was lucky to score an entire tranny and fluid drive unit from a 49 desoto from French lake for my 46 dodge for 250 shipped to TX and it has not leaked a drop. If this car was closer to TX I would take a chance on it.
  3. Seems a lot of tire is missing to help fill up the wheel well ? And does it seem to sit deeper too ?
  4. Thanks. Do you know what the jet size is your running on the car? What is your climate where you live? On this rusty carb since your going to be taking it about to clean can you tell me if there is any number on the idle tube and screw? Is it soldered in ?
  5. Evapo Rust. It only goes after rust. If possible can you tell me the well jet number on yours ? It is the smaller jet shown in the picture
  6. Thank you Jerry. I have 2 more things to do to this carb in my own attempt to get it right. Just waiting on the proper drill bit to resize the jet and then I need to flair out the idle tube. If this doesn't cut it I will give him a call for sure !
  7. off topic here Jerry but what carb are you running? I am working through issues on my DRT-08 that seem endless for a carb so simple yet insurmountable !
  8. Still working on getting the new DRT-08 carb problems worked out. What a pain. Close to just getting a BB1 if this keeps up
  9. OK, let me take it back off the car and thanks for all the help! As you should be able to tell by now I know nothing about this carb
  10. Jon mine is a new tube. Mine has that small hole your talking about. I will check out the tube end. God only knows if it is the right one. And both halves of the carb should be together when installing the tube? Mine is a DRT-08. What other number do you need.? I am about ready to pack it up and send it to you if I can't get this thing figured out. That or light the car on fire and roll it down a hill.
  11. Jon, I already have my new one installed just not soldered to the screw plug. Will I have an issue now screwing it in after soldering? and what sealant should I use on the top of it before I install the top section of the carb to the lower section? I am guessing screw in the tube prior to installing the top section ? I have soldered thousands of copper pipe fittings before and have a mini torch here to do the job. Just want to make sure which end of the tube goes into the screw plug.
  12. I was thinking goat hide and monkey turds....
  13. Thank you. I can't understand the price either in comparison to other brake shoes. And it is not like the shoes are rare or the cars.
  14. OK Jon and thank you. Just what I needed to hear. I will do so today sometime before doing anything else. What sealer is recommended for the idle tube? And before soldering it so I am sure the correct end is soldered in Can you tell if the single hole goes up top or close to the screw?
  15. No, have not checked for a leak there yet. Going to upsize the jet somewhere a hair above the .0485 size as that reamer alone was 36 bucks. jeeze. But the drill bit in MM that is .0010 bigger is 5 bucks. So going with this option. Going to reinstall the air cleaner first to see if that restriction in air flow changes things. Seems like I am going in the right direction. It will run good at high rpm and 1/3 choke now but lower the rpm and choke and it starts to pop. Had it idle at least at 1/3 choke and double idle speed. Anyone else have an opinion?
  16. Starting off the Sunday with a nice day heading to about 75. Quick trip down to Tractor Supply in search of some straight SAE 10w to change the transmission oil in the 50 Chrysler.
  17. Well yesterday we continued on with trying to work out the carb issue by installing one of the called for sized jets. It happened to be the leaner one. Again the car won't run unless the choke is on only this time 1/3 way so we are making headway. I ordered the next size up bit for what is supposed to be the the non lean size and will drill out the way small one I replaced to the next size up. BUT before I do that I am going to put the air cleaner back on and see if that has anything to do with allowing the correct amount of air in or balancing it.
  18. Changing the lubricants and doing an overall grease and lube job on my survivor 1950 Chrysler Windsor and see the trans calls for 10W motor oil in the shop manual. This is a low mileage mostly all original car but of course has a few weeps here and there. Looks like the front and rear seal some. Is there a brand of oil that is better then most for this application? And would adding a seal conditioner screw the pooch? I was lucky to have gotten the past owners (passed on) shop manual and with this section highlighted like it is (especially leaving no doubt about 10W only) it looks like he kept up with things but don't know when he stopped doing it. The rear end gear oil was a little low and I have noticed the shifting takes a little longer then it should so would like to change it out and see if that changes things up
  19. I was going to solder that on the screw but when I pulled the old carb apart that tube was also not soldered on the screw. So left mine alone. It is in the idle tube casting pretty tight like the other one and cannot be pulled out from the bottom with the top of the carb back on.
  20. Have you tried starting yours choked pulled all the way out ? I adjusted the idle screw up and with choke pulled out all the way it ran and started nice at high rpm but could not adjust down without it starving
  21. Going by the paperwork this jet is a 56 rod but will not accept a 55 rod. Looks to say 56. But this might be the non lean one drilled out as I don't have that .0485 drill bit to check. If this runs too rich I will drill out the tiny one that is on the DRT-08 now with a size 56 as that is the lean setting. Best picture I can get. It is still on the old carb for now.
  22. Yes, the one that came on the DRT-08 when I bought it will not even take a size #60 drill rod through the well jet it is so small. It should be a #56 as lean and something between a #56 and a #55 normal. Size .0485 . The multi jet though spec'd out correct though. size #48 drill rod.
  23. I have both what I need and I thank you for the offer. Pulling the size 56 off the old carb. But I did a search for these jets and came up with zero
  24. Source for both well jet and multi-jet. Any one?
