  1. I don't think it will ever be gone until that magical "vaccine" gets injected into everyone along with something else to act as an identifier that proves you had it done. You know that discussion on the smart chip to monitor your "health". Already being experimented with in some European countries for the past 2 years. I say around mid July it will roll out
  2. Fluid drive car yes. I have been told from another board that when the reverse-first rail is in neutral the 2nd gear rail forks should align with the reverse-first forks. So looking at my picture that means just sliding the 2nd gear fork over to the right one detent click, correct ?
  3. Pretty sure this is an easy fix for someone. I have not had these transmissions apart enough to see where I am wrong and I am not understanding the manual. The dark pictures do not help. I removed the shifter cover on my 3 speed trans to fix the leak and stupid me decided to see how the trans shifts. Didn't think anything of it. Thought I had every back to where it was. Well put cover back on. refilled with gear oil, and now I find I only have R 1st and 2nd. It will shift easily on the column through all positions but when going from 2nd to 3rd it won't change the gear even though it does on the column. Here is a picture of the placement of the my gears and rails when the car is in nuetral. First and reverse are fine. 2nd and 3rd I shift and it stays in 2nd.
  4. Want to yank the original motor for a rebuild and install a runner for the next 9 months. 46 dodge coupe with fluid drive. I am close to Fort Worth, TX.
  5. No driving today but for sure tomorrow. I have my get out of jail free essential worker card (State plumbers license) Not that it matters because my little town has chosen to stay open and not destroy the towns economy.
  6. What did they call the "Holy crap were gonna crash" strap by the window back then ?
  7. Matt for some reason your Buick just looks to have an never ending wheelbase with the angle of this picture. Just how much leg room did they need back then ?
  8. So tempted I just had to contact the seller I did.. This color is just so different. And I have a thing for mopar flat 6's. The American work horse of a motor only outdone by an equal work horse called the slant six. But I seem to be missing any image showing a parking brake? I am guessing it was still on the rail of the 3 speed?
  9. That 57 would fill the gap between the 53 and the 63 nicely. Looking hard at it.
  10. Love my old Mopars even if a few are 1700 dollar parts runner cars. Even the 31 Plymouth has hydraulic brakes. Rock solid dependable cars
  11. John I acquired an all original 52 Plymouth last year that was a simple overheating fix for 1700 which I now drive to work 3 days a week. It is original front to back and runs quieter then my new Tundra and gets better gas mileage. The Flat 6 is an incredible motor. Such a simple car to work on as well. Parts everywhere. I always thought of the plymouth as "every mans car". After WW 2 it is the car I picture in every vets driveway as they start a family, bought that first house in Levittown, and went to work at Grumman every morning.
  12. Looking for a running motor/trans combo for my 46 Dodge coupe as I am going to be yanking the original for an overhaul over summer. If anyone has a lead on a flat six with fluid drive/ trans combo it would give me a much needed project.
  13. Well I will remove the valve cover and see what I have. What was your procedure for just removing one rocker and pushrod?
  14. I just walked in from the grocery run and will look. Will take a vid of a cold start for folks to listen too this afternoon and get a starting opinion. Matt are we talking the 49 shop manual? Matt was that oil spray the noisy one ? Was something clogged that was not allowing the oil down to the tappet? Mine sounds more to the front. Ben I am assuming what your talking it is also covered in the manual.
  15. So Ben if I was to remove the valve cover and watch the valve train would I be able to judge the oil flow by eye? There is no adjustment? It goes away 99% after 5 minutes of running and warm oil
  16. Thank you very much. Being it seems to go away when warmed up I am wondering (hoping) if I have a weak lifter pumping up. I have never gotten into a buick motor before and am curious if these early lifters work the same as say a small block chevy lifter? I did read that early year Roadmasters for 49 got solid lifters and mid year they went to hydraulic. Now I know the motor in my car has been rebuilt at sometime just don't know when. But it is an open port hole car and also read that stopped around the same time they went to hydraulic lifters. True ?
  17. In the past month I have noticed a lifter starting to tap (hope it is a lifter) that goes away once warmed up. Coincided with an oil change a week prior. Pretty pronounced this morning after sitting for 8 days. But again went away. This motor has been rebuilt some time ago but no idea when. Hoping they changed over to hydraulic lifters. Procedure for adjusting before I take the valve cover off? Should I adjust hot or cold? Best method to isolate the correct lifter?
  18. I am looking for the the jet tube. It screws into the bottom of the carb by means of a brass slotted screw and will have the little brass tube soldered into it. The screw should be marked (tiny)
  19. Is that a vacuum tank on the inner fender?
  20. The low speed jet tube for a DRT-08 209s. 11-120S This is a one year only carb for the 1931 Plymouth PA. Thanks !
  21. Looking for a 46 or what would work running flat six to toss in my 46 Dodge coupe when I yank the original for rebuild. matching trans a plus. Leads appreciated
